What do you want us to do? Write angry letters to the management? Sympathize because she's too smart to prepare for her tests?

You truly have no heart :p

Nah, I actually have a huge, caring, generous heart but I like being a complete dickhead here because people should be learning to fix their own problems anyway.

No, mom is actually very understanding, not controlling at all. A bit nagging and controlling now after she saw her grades, but before, she let her make her own decisions, gave her freedom, etc.

So what she won't be going to UCLA? Who cares, you can still get into a decent college with her overall GPA probably. Assuming she got 3.5 + the rest of her HS years.

Yeah, me.

Ditto. A do over for the past four years would be nice. That way I could go to a real college where the staff & instructors actually care about their jobs.

Same here, but what are you gonna do.

Bah, all you people that are jumping to conclusions need not do so. We don't even know anything about her, and you're all assuming she's on drugs or something.

I will agree, there is probably something up.. but.. the best you can do is offer support. Any attempt to make her do anything will be rejected.

Maybe you should tell her what you observed about her attitude towards academics, and tell her to suck it up and accept the fact. Shoot, I got rejected by UCLA, CAL (twice), but I sucked it up and am going to Davis. All you can do is lay down the facts and she has to figure out what she did wrong.

Intelligence does not constitute success, I think that's the lesson she has to learn.

Also, student government isn't the only extracurricular activity she can do. I'm sure there are other clubs that she can participate in. ie. Key Club (if you guys have one over there).

Perhaps she had an epiphany and realized how ridiculous it all is. I want a woman like that, one who is above all the petty involvment in day to day nothingness. Or maybe she's on the pot...
