Just a curious question.. does that clear part of the tail lights light up when you have daylight on? You do realize that white light on the rear means the car is in reverse right? If that clear part of the tail light function as it should, then you deserve every bit of that ticket.

Gosh, the cops must be really bored. I can't imagine having that type of taillight is illegal, but who knows what kind of crazy law there'is in California. The front headlight is probably what snatch his attention and ticket.

I never understood why people say this. Like cops that give tickets for improper lights, tinted front windows, jaywalking, etc. I'm glad that they do this... they do their job instead of just letting em go on by. Follow the law, if you don't... dont' start complaining that you got a ticket/fine.

I have no problem with that... but i better see them pulling over anyone else that has this stuff on. I see so many cars over here that do not comply with the freakin law... but i don't see them getting pulled over... cops simply pass by them... hardly look at them even.

i don't know how your car looks like but if you have all sorts of wings sprouting out of there then that's probably why. if you that kind of car, once you get pulled over... that's citation heaven right there. simply putting a small sticker is considered ricing nowadays. i don't see how changing your light assembly is considered ricey... but you should've kept the amber strip... they're really picky about that.

Did you ever think the cops were on their way to a call or to do something that needed their immediate attention? We can't 100% enforce laws, but if a cop has a chance he should.

The tail lights are identical to the stock lights except for the top being clear instead of pink. As for the front, I removed a plastic amber strip that may have been reflective. Heres what I've found from the vehicle code so far that applies:
25100. (a) Except as provided in subdivisions (b) and (d), every
vehicle 80 inches or more in overall width shall be equipped during
darkness as follows:
(1) At least one amber clearance lamp on each side mounted on a
forward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the front and
at least one red clearance lamp on each side mounted on a
rearward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the rear.
(2) At least one amber side-marker lamp on each side near the
front and at least one red side-marker lamp on each side near the
rear.
(5) Combination clearance and side-marker lamps mounted as
side-marker lamps and meeting the visibility requirements for both
types of lamps may be used in lieu of required individual clearance
or side-marker lamps.

25950. This section applies to the color of lamps and to any
reflector exhibiting or reflecting perceptible light of 0.05 candela
or more per foot-candle of incident illumination. Unless provided
otherwise, the color of lamps and reflectors upon a vehicle shall be
as follows:
(a) The emitted light from all lamps and the reflected light from
all reflectors, visible from in front of a vehicle, shall be white or
yellow, except as follows:
The emitted light from all lamps and the reflected light from
all reflectors, visible from the rear of a vehicle, shall be red
except as follows:
(1) Stoplamps on vehicles manufactured before January 1, 1979, may
show yellow to the rear.
(2) Turn signal lamps may show yellow to the rear.
(3) Front side marker lamps required by Section 25100 may show
yellow to the rear.

24953. (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of
intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or
amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light
visible to the rear.

Fix the lights and show it to a cop and get him to sign off on the ticket. You more than likely have 72 hours to do this. No sense in arguing because the cop wrote a simple fix it ticket. The law states that you can't have crap like you have.

heheh.. its my local town cops. they have been going wild the last few days...

Anyway he is within limits, you need an orange bulb for the rear (i know about that slight pink tint on the stock hondas). Front should be alright.

As for the head lamps as long as its not BLUE but a hint of BLUE you should be fine.

If you guys think thats rice then I dont know what to say. Im the first one to call something a ricer but those lights are tasteful and just make the car look smoother. Whats next ? Putting a system in the car makes it ricey ? Tint ?

Put the stock lights back on. Your aftermarket lights do NOT make you look cool.

Maybe he like's them. Is he not allowed to have nice things because you think he's trying to be "cool"? You're very insecure about yourself...

They are illegal, so he is NOT allowed to have them. Do you not understand that? How old are you?

Some lights aren't illegal. Laws are only as good as the people that enforce them. There's plenty of things that are illegal and people still do. Lets see, there's loads of computer crimes (all those mp3s sitting on your system), drugs, underage drinking, spitting on the floor, littering, blowing yellow/red lights, jaywalking, lack of use of turn signals, the list goes on and on.

Instead of giving the man sh-t, why don't you either help him or ignore him...

The tail lights we have on the car are similar to the stock tailights except for the top half is clear instead of pink. You can see a picture of these lights here. I left the stock light bulbs in the tail lights (yellowish white).
That's going to be your main problem...

If you are showing whitish light out the back, that means the car is in reverse. And if you are showing whitish light out the back when you aren't in reverse, then you're going to get slammed.

If you want clear plastic housing, you'll need to get red bulbs...even if it's only partially clear.

And I'm pretty sure you have to have amber reflectives up front and front/side, and red reflects rear and rear/side.
Pulling off the reflectors is a no-no I think...but if you are showing white out your taillights that's your main problem.

I think the problem is that the tail lights are yellowish white. It needs to be orange. However, I have seen yellow and red getting by the cops with no problems. The front headlights might not be legal. I have piaas headlights and they are certificed to be street legal. The fake xeons are actually not. I believe your sister only got a "fix it" ticket. It should tell you what is not legal with your car.

I would be very impressed if you could spell 'inbred'.

According to the law, the lights are illegal. One has three choices:

# 1) Work within the system to change the law.
# 2) Obey the law.
# 3) Disobey the law and pay the consequences.

Sometimes cops can be real pricks. It must have been a slow day for them and they decided to enforce laws to an extreme degree. Even Hellen Keller wouldn't mistake your sister's accord for an emergency vehicle; I don't see why the cops needed to rag on her.

it's called revenue generation. they aren't protecting anyone here... how is this rice? amber lenses are tacky.

edit: and the pink tinted ones are even worse ;)

edit2: what kind of help do you need? just slap the stock stuff back on, get the ticket written off, then put the stuff back on.

Actually, the lights are NOT illegal. After a little research, I figured out it is the bulbs that are illegal... and no, the white lights are not on like reverse lights, that would be stupid. The white lights are used only as turn signals. They cannot be mistaken for reverse lights in any way. The law is that the signal light needs to be either amber or red so once I change the bulbs in the back and put the stock bulbs in the front, I should be good to go.

I'd stick to red in rear and yellow turn signals, just because its safer for you. Sometimes I have a hard time seeing such cars with white/clear lights. When your life depends on it, better stick with what the car maker put on it.

well that solves the problem doesn't it.. sorry man your responses to people like this are completely useless. if it's not big, ugly, gas wasting piece of crap american boat anchor you don't do anything but make fun of people... NO SOUP FOR YOU!

all I can say is, that's totally unfair... most people would look at those lights and think they are totally stock... they certainly look near stock... I dont think you should be ticketed for that at all... You definitely have my support about this one.. unfortunately i am not sure what to say that can help you.. but best of luck man!!! :)

after reading what you got pulled over for, i think she got targeted because of the color of the headlight bulbs. those fake HID bulbs give off a very blue tinted color. i have the same car and used the generic HID-look a like bulbs and had the same problem. i finally just bought the bright white PIAA's and it looks a lot better. i was going to get the same taillights, but never got around to buying them. i didn't think the cleared out tail lights you have would be a problem. on the 2001-2002 accord models, the bottom is cleared while the top is still red. i wouldnt think the police would know the difference. usually the cops dont knit-pick over the tail-lights unless the blinkers are changed to the strobe lights or super white bulbs. like i said, my guess is that she got pulled over for the color of the headlight bulbs and then the cop just noticed the headlights and the tail-lights. its a pain to replace the headlight and tail-light housings. it will take at least a couple of hours cuz you have to take the front bumper off to replace the headlight housings if i remember correctly. sorry to here you/she got ticketed. what city was this in anyway? in la or orange county? and to all you that think the tail-lights are "ricey", they are not. the stock pink color of the tail-lights are really tacky and don't look right on a dark colored accord.
