Well...I gave my old Shuttle AK31 a try today, and this is what happened. Big spark, bigger bang..

Anyways, thought I'd share with my fellow AT'ers..think I can get a replacement from Shuttle, by any chance? I don't think they do direct customer RMAs..but if I call and say my board exploded, maybe, just maybe they'll work something out...hopefully, anyways.

You got me excited...

Exploding would have resulted in motherboard reduced to bite size chunks.

Well..part of it did. Fortunately, that little wire thingy held the piece on, or else I might've lost a chunk of skin...that damaged part is rather sharp. If it was propelled at high velocity towards my face, I would've been annoyed.

Definitely something wrong with the PS there.. that's a voltage regulator right beside the PS connector.. don't use that PS again on a new mobo. I don't think the Shuttle is at fault for this... Nice pics though. :D

And you would have been able to sue maybe :)?

It's a brand new Antec Truepower 430w, which was running a Shuttle AK32L and Asus A7N266-VM..both of which weren't working properly (freezing in POST, or freezing shortly after, which I attributed to bad processor, and sent in for RMA). Are you sure it wasn't a bad motherboard?

lol..I suppose I could, but I'd settle for a few new motherboards :D

Just cause its new doesn't mean it's not the culprit.. I only thought it was new because I know (at least for me) PSU rate failure is alot higher than motherboard failure.. I would have definitely attributed that to PSU failure had I only seen pics. (which basically I had) although now you say it worked fine in other computers... OK fine... that's cool... but I still think it may pose a risk putting that in a new PC again.. but that's just me.

P.S. I have an Antec 400W and I love it... no probs at all.

Man..this would make FIVE RMA's in the last two weeks. This really sucks..especially shipping. USPS is making a killing off me..time to switch to Fedex :(
