From what I've read - it is better to get large flat screens delivered than picking them up yourself - unless perhaps you have a pickup and a clear day to keep the screen vertical on the trip home. Reason is - if glass is moved when held horizontally - it is MUCH more likely to break. That is why the box says this way up, and why glass trucks always have the glass vertical on the sides. Most big screens wont fit in the box in the back of even a large SUV - so it is almost impossible to transport vertically without a pickup. But if you get it delivered - you should be able to get your money back from the shipper if it breaks. So I felt much more at ease getting my plasma shipped across country than picking it up myself and potentially losing 2 grand with no one to turn to.

Uh... assuming you don't wait a month first :( Bummer!
