I was sitting here surfing and my secondary monitors gamma just went through the roof. I was like WTF so I turned it off, it had that little colorful dot in the middle for about 3 seconds like when you turned the old TVs off, it has never done that before. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still is bright. It is not the settings either because I turned the brightness all the way down and that helped a little, but not enough. They have been off for almost a week and I use them about 7-8 hours a day.
It is somewhat blurry as well.

What happend?

I am using a Geforce4 Ti 4200 with two NEC Multisync 97F monitors

I just got it about 3-6 months ago. Well lets just say I just got my rebates last week.

Got a shotgun? BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Well, if you just got your rebates, I'm guessing it's still under warranty.

Sounds like the CRT is about to go *pop* Maybe you got a bad egg?

I had a monitor do that and unless you've got the manufacturer's schematics (and the right revision), it really isn't worth the time to hunt down and repair the bum part. If the model was popular enough, you might be able to find it posted on a technician's board or someone could email it to you.

But if not, now it gives you an excu... erm, reason to upgrade. ;)

I just bought them. Ive wanted dual monitors for as long as I can remember. I paid a whopping $40 each for them at Staples, there is no way I can justify upgrading.

Anyway, I called Tech/Customer support, they said if I paid one way shipping they would fix it for free. I also had the option of paying $50 for a new one + shipping, but I figured I would pass.
