My server has a 18.2 gig Scsi hard drive with an Adaptec 2940UW Scsi card. It's a p3 450 on a Asus p2b-f motherboard. The computer runs just fine and dandy with 3 partitions. 10gb, 4gb, and 4gb...... WinME is installed on drive C:...... now the problem is whenEVER I use the boot up disk (was a probelm back in 98SE also), it wouldn't detect any of my drives (i only use 1 scsi hdd btw). So now whenever I want to fdisk something I have to do it IN windows ms-dos prompt..... Anyone know the problem? I want to install Win2000 on drive d: as a dual boot but since win2000 requires booting from a floppy as well, it doesn't see any of my drives.... it does see C:..... but it's under unknown...... even when i use ghost it will say NON-DOS partition IF i booted up with any floppy boot disk..... help please......

Try and get your hands on the dos drivers for your adapter and then put them on the floppy so that the drivers load when the floppy boots. I have never used SCSI but I imagine such drivers are avaliable
(I had to do the above to get my CD-ROM to load with the boot disk)

Ill subscribe to the thread so if you need any more help just post.

Windows 2000 is a bootable cd have you tried that? Is your CD SCSI also? If it isn't you should check your boot order in the BIOS.

I have been dual booting for 2 weeks love 2000!!

I hope this helps.

I don't know off the top my head if the adapter in question has its own Bios. If it does, then it may simply be disabled. If that is the case, a DOS or Win9x boot disk without proper dirvers will not see the adapter and therefore none fo the attached drives.

If the adapter has no on board Bios, then you have the same situation.

For both instances, Evolution is correct. Since you are booting from a DOS/Win9x boot disk, you will need to obtain drivers for your SCSI adapter and include them within the Autoexec and Config.
