This annoying message causes my startup to take like 1 minute longer. How do I fix this problem?

you don't really give much info like a list of your irqs.
suggest that you go into device manager/creative multimedia/sb emulation & disable sb emulation. if that doesn't help then please post your full irq list. in device manager, highlight computer & click properties! :)

Do you have it set in your BIOS that you are using a PNP OS? That way windows can control your IRQ's making it a bit easier to change them in Windows. I've also had problems with the SB Emulator and usually I just disable it.

it could be that the sb is in a shared slot with usb. I also notice that your videocard hasn't been assigned an irq which is not good as I'm sure it needs busmastering to get best performance.
I suggest that 1)you go into bios & disable com 1 or com2 to free up an irq.
2)disable sb emulation in device manager/creative multimedia/sb emulation; this also frees up an irq.
3)move the sb into a different slot which isn't shared.
hopefully with the 2 free irqs, your sb will be assigned an unshared irq & your videocard will also get an irq, hopefully to itself.
let us know how you get on

btw its ok to have a piece of hardware sharing an irq with pci steering.

bacillus is on the ball :)

Live's hate PCI IRQ sharing period :|
If you can find in your manual for your motherboard the page where it shows you the PCI IRQ layout - you should be able to find a PCI slot that shares with nothing else and live in harmony with your Live :Q

In typical 5 PCI slot board, Slot 1 shares IRQ with AGP, slots 2 & 3 ought to have their own IRQs, and Slots 4 + 5 + USB all share a single IRQ. So put your Live! in #2 or 3.

There is a really easy fix to this problem:

Control Panel
System
Device Manager
Creative Misc Devices
Creative SB16 Emulation
Settings
Check "Allow Lpt Interupt Sharing"

The conflict is gone without reserving an IRQ for legacy device.

It worked for me twice (I built twins).

Also to free up IRQs you can disable the things you don't need (eg the parallel port, serial ports, USB etc). I think I have three free IRQs now. :)
