come on people, could use the suggestions. zune maybe?

 yeah right. the zune software is much much worse then iTunes. besides, you can use the ipod with different software. there are plenty of alternatives.

I have a zune and have been loving it so far - other than the software that is. It is a pretty good player though, I prefer it now over the ipod it replaced.

edit: Nevermind, I just saw you already chose the darkside

actually just canceled order this morning. just not sure if i had thought it through...

I just bought a Zune and its pretty sweet. Only drawback is the Zune software is somewhat limited. I know someone else who just went through 2 Sansa's and apparently they are turds.

Just get an iPod already. Rebels without a cause just hurt themselves.

hahaha i am starting to think that way too...

which ipod then? and what are the alternative softwares that i can use? i think i have tried anapod, but it did not work properly with my laptop for some reason.

I would suggest a Creative player - I've seen quite a few reviews which indicate they leave Ipods in the dust, in terms of audio quality.

IMHO iRiver makes some of the best mp3 players out there. The Clix and S10 are nice units, have built-in FM tuners and have beautiful OLED color displays.

I'm interrested too. Are there any good free alternate softwares? My wife got a 30gb iPod video against my wishes ($85 so I guess I couldn't complain). The only problem is iTunes absolutely sucks balls.

I guess I'm just spoiled by my insanely crappy Dell DJ from about 5+ years ago. Drag and Drop, 22+hrs continuous playback, came with a real charger. The player is a POS, but I don't have a reason to get rid of it.

Funny I've had my Sansa since release and had no problems that couldnt be fixed by the stuff I've found on the anythingbutipod site.

i tried a lot of things last night and couldnt get it to work. though it could be that it's because i don't have the correct firmware... the site that you suggested has a lot of good information, but i just don't think it will fix mine.

not sure. probably not, have had it for less than a year. though i dont have the receipt anymore.

ohh i just got a Sansa E250 (2 gig) today. had to replace my 512meg sandisk i had.

just need a good set of headphones. wish i couold buy half a set. heh i can't hear out of my left ear =(

You seem to want the zune so get the damn zune.

There's a reason the iPod is as popular as it is. And they're on sale.

I've had the following MP3 players:
- Toshiba Gigabeat (40 gig one) - decent, sound quality was oddly tinny and not as robust and creative/apple players using the same headphones. I HATED THE SOFTWARE. Used Windows media as an organizer and.. Ugh..

-3 iPods - they've all been lost or stolen. Argh. But iTunes worked fine and, when I was a rebel without a cause, I used a 3rd party app to make the iPod drag and drop

- Creative Muvo - "Hard disk failure".. funny, since it used flash
- Creative Zen Touch - "Hard disk failure"
^^The sound quality on creative players are stunning, however

- Archos gmini 400 - love the player but seems made for dorks like me and not the general public. Everything that I wanted wasin there and, while the UI was lacking, I enjoyed the brushed aluminum look and all that jazz.

The older I get the more I forget about stupid consumer electronic devices advocacy. I banned apple products and used all the rest, but there's a reason that apple is king of this market (and it's not just marketing. Great marketing doesn't lead to a 5+ year dominance in a field, ask VW about that).

And, seriously, "drag and drop" dorks. iTunes works fine. Stop being dorks.
