Got my CPU and motherboard from Microcenter this morning, and just finished the build this afternoon.

i5-2500K, Gigabyte P67A-UD3, 8GB DDR3, 4850, Corsair 450w. TT V4 Black Edition Case.

Here's a pic of the finished interior. How does it look?

ram's in the wrong slots.

hdd should be in sata_0
optical sata cable should be switched so the 90-degree side is attached to the optical
route more cables behind motherboard

You're right about that. I misread the Gigabyte manual. I thought something was fishy when I interpreted it to mean 2 DIMMs in differently colored slots.

Does it matter if the 90 degree side is attached to the board or the drive? I thought it was all interchangeable?

I don't know how much difference it makes, but look at page 24 of your manual:

Please connect the L-shaped end of the SATA cable to your SATA hard drive.

It's no biggie, just makes it look cleaner out of the optical, and doesn't cover other sata ports.

It's one of the best power supplies out the ~500w range...probably better than many units which carry a 500w rating.

Anyone notice the top of the left most filled ram slot clip wasn't in the entire way? Looks good though. So whatever.

Wtf, my Corsair 650tx doesn't have an 8 pin MB power connector cable long enough to be routed up around like that. I still need to have them send me an extension, it's absurd how I have to route it over my video card.

Overall the cables are good. Getting them perfect takes excessive amounts of time, and only barely improves airflow over how you have them.

Very nice build :) I get my setup weds. I went the 2600K route with a Asus P67 Pro. Is that the coolermaster 212 heatsink on your CPU? I have the same and from what I've heard the mounting holes for the 1155 socket is the same for 1156, which is nice.

the real reason it is suggested that you plug the 90° connector of the SATA cable to the drive and not the mobo is b/c many internal HDD modules/cages are rotated 90° such that the backs of the HDD's face the side panel once they're installed. there is little to no room to try and connect the straight end of the SATA cable to the HDD and still put the side back on the case - hence the 90° connector...of course i totally agree with you that it prevents one from blocking other SATA ports on the mobo too.

Thanks. All it needs is an SSD and I'm good to go. Can't wait to swap out that HDD for an SSD.
