My SAMSUNG 700NF diamondtron tube monitor needs WARMUP TIME?!?!?!!

I own a Samsung 700NF monitor. I read in the user's manual that you should wait for approx 30 minutes before making any screen adjustments. So before i went and adjusted the position and size of the display i waited the 30 minutes. The problem is, every time i start up my computer each day, after it has been off, or even if the monitor has been off for just a little while (a couple of minutes) the display after i turn it on looks like it needs a lot of adjustment. What i end up doing is not doing any adjust ment and waiting the 30 minutes again and then everything seems to go back to normal. Why is it that i only seem to run into this problem with this monitor? I've had a sony trinitron monitor before and have never experienced this warm up effect. What
could be cauing this? Is there something wrong with the monitor? I have a Diamond Viper v770 TNT 2 video card. Is there something that I should adjust with the onscreen controls to match up the monitor with the video card? Also, if this effect is part of the warm up process, then should I not be turning off my monitor when I leave the work station? What would you suggest as a powersaving/screensaving technique to get around the warm up effect? Thanks for your help.

I think there is either a save or store option where you have to hit that in order for the monitor to remember all the adjustments you've done. A lot of monitors are like that.

Modern monitors can take a few seconds to change from standing by to "we're ready for action." I doubt this is a "bad" thing. As to having to wait to make picture adjustments, some knowledgeable people say to wait for four hours. The picture slowly loses color saturation as time wears on. Maybe Iiyama's don't. I just don't have a grand laying around to find out!

This is personal choice, of course. I've found that never turning anything off makes PC's and monitors last longer. Excepting things like scanners and printers.

no no.. but what i'm saying is that i make the adjustments. Then the next day when i turn on my computer... for the first few minutes, things aren't how i left them. Then after 30 minutes they go back to how i left them the day before. Hence the warm-up effect

Mitsubishi diamontron monitors do have to warm up. I have a diamond pro 900u and it takes about 15-20 minutes to warm up. My screen is slightly curved until it warms up. Kind of annoying but its worth it for a kickass monitor.

I fail to see the problem. If you absolutely must have your picture exactly the way you want it a minute after powering on, adjust away.

My Sony G500 is just the same too. What it is is this: The parts are cold when it been off for a while. It takes a bit for them to get hot. They expand during that time, and move a bit. So they have you adjust warm because that is the state it is in most of the time, so when youre using it, it is adjusted right.

It can be kind of annoying.

Also its a result of until its warm and everything is in place it cant take measurements for the image correction.

Let it cool down over night...fire it up in the morning and leave it unadjusted for a couple hours, then adjust it so it's perfect.

Then go into Control Panel/Power Management and set it to go into standby/Power down after 20 minutes..1 hour whatever you like and then if you turn your computer off at night DON'T turn off the monitor, if you let it go into standby or power reduction mode (black screen) then the internal components won't get a chance to cool down and contract and besides being good for it, should stop the constant adjusting.

here's another question. i usually make the display go from edge to edge so i can really tell when the thing has cooled down because the edges run right off the screen. What is a normal amount of allowance for this?

CRV: I am surprised that how many people keep turning on and off of their monitor everytime they start/shutdown their computer instead of using the standby mode, its like it automatically turns itself on and off(well not completely off), which is extremely convinient. I think its a great feature that everyone should use.

Exactly, and going into power saving mode keeps the internals all nice and warm which avoids all that nasty expansion and contraction.
