My Ruger 10/22

Had any problems with rim fire ammo yet?

I don't shoot much .22LR, but I had an old High Standard target pistol and it had a problem with cycling .22LR consistently.
I tried a bunch of different brands, to no avail. CCI Blazer seemed to be the best though.
Maybe the hammer spring was weak...

I have this Ruger 10/22, a Henry Golden Boy, a Ruger Single Six, and my dad has a Ruger Mark something (not sure the exact model). All use .22 LR. I use Federal bulk hollow points from Wal-Mart. I've gone through several boxes of 550 ct. and maybe had 1 or 2 duds (didn't fire). I've never had a problem with cycling or feeding except with one of my Eagle 30 rd. mags, and I think thats the mag and not the ammo.

When I bought my first gun, I had a choice between a 10/22 and a Remington 22 (I don't know the model number). Dumbass me didn't know anything about guns and bought the Remington, thing ends up jamming all the time and is basically useless. I ended up shooting it with my Weatherby 30-06. To think I could have had a 10/22, for less money, still haunts me to this day.

I've always thought about getting some accessories for my 10/22, now 22 years old and still just as good as when I first shot it.

I have an aftermarket mag, 50 rd, and it does well with normal FMJ rounds (CCI, for instance). If I try to use truncated tips like high velocity Remington rounds, it jams. What I hate is that I tear up my thumb when loading that magazine, especially after about 30 rounds.

Any recommendations on where the buy a stock? That's probably the accessory I'd want the most.

I bought a new ruger 10/22 with heavy barrel for myself for Christmas, and recently put a new stock on mine.

I still have not had a chance to shoot it, bad weather and other things have prevented me from getting out to sight it in.

The Scope is a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x42mm, with mil dot reticle. I also have had a trigger job done on it already to lighten the trigger pull. The next step is to upgrade the barrel to a carbon fiber barrel that is also threaded, not only to lighten up the rifle but to also allow me to attatch my Gemtech Outback II supressor that I also use on my walther P22.

I also have a plain blued 10/22 that is a good 30 years old, it was my first gun I ever owned, given to me by my grandfather. That one is totally priceless to me.

Congrats, you took a $100 rim fire rifle, threw a bunch of money at it and turned it into a $100 rim fire rifle. You could have accomplished the same thing and spent a bit less money if you just left the original stock on there, bought a cheap scope and a few 50rnd magazines.

oh, it was cheaper than spending $7-800 on the AR-15 i was initially considering, not to mention way cheaper on ammo also.

Not really, no.

Come on, you'll have to admit that it does look a bit ghetto.

I own that gun and quite frankly it's a good plinker, accurate and reliable and it shoots cheap ammo but in the end it's still a .22 rimfire cartridge. You've basically taken the civic of guns and stuck a bunch of stickers and wings on it.

Jules Maximus has a point. Anything with tapco is gonna be ghetto.

Not that bad on a 10/22 though. Putting anything tapco on an AR-15 is a sin and should be punishable.

I have a .22 conversion kit for my AR. Saves on ammo, and I can always go back to .223 in less than 30 seconds. AR-15 FTW.

I have a .22 conversion kit for my AR. Saves on ammo, and I can always go back to .223 in less than 30 seconds. AR-15 FTW.

but you also spent 2-3 times as much on it also. heck, your conversion kit probably cost as much as the stock 10/22 as it is, right?

personally I wouldn't do it to my 10/22, but I'm not going to bash you for doing it to yours. If you like it, thats all that counts.
