my router work w/o power

my 4 yr router can able to network, share internet, exchange files w/o the power cord plug in and power! There is no light blinking! it a beat up router, been step on and smash on several times! The poor thing is working flawlessy! Do any know one here know why it's working!

My guess is this is a hub rather than a router. I don't know of any routers (except recent ones with POE) that will run without power.

fascinating... you're absolutley sure it's a router? What was it before you stripped it?

it's not a router, most likely its a hub, most hubs will work unpowered(passive), but you are severly limited to distance, as an active hub will amplify signals to boost gain.

That's not a router, a router's CPU gets fairly hot.
