My roommate is going insane. (update)

Actually, he is my roommate next year, lives a few doors down this year. Anyway, last week, he met this girl online, through an online dating service(he didn't actively search for such a service, he saw a link to it in a friend's profile and filled it out cuz he was bored). She lives in Kentucky. We live in PA. All he does is talk to her online, hours and hours a day. He claims to be deeply in love with this girl...I quote his away message a few nights ago..."I don't know if God made true love, but if he did, I found it". Stuff like that. He has never even MET this girl, and he is rearranging his life. He didn't go out with us at all this weekend cuz he was too busy talking to her, skipped his basketball game today because he was too busy talking to her...its ridiculous. Apparently she is equally stupid, she is DRIVING here in a few weeks, and even talked about transfering. We've made fun of him for this, of course, but we're really getting worried about him, how can we smack some sense into this guy?

Personally, I think internet dating/meeting is a bunch of crap, but for somebody your age (no offense!) it may be a wonderful learning experience.

hell, most probably, he'll get some action...can't be all that bad.

let him learn the lesson on his own. no matter how much you try to tell him "it could be a man" or "it could be a murderer" (which is probably unlikely... don't they go for girls?) he's gonna want to meet her.

just make sure he follows some obvious rules - meet in a public place, and bring a friend along. at least he's told someone that she "exists" instead of keeping it to himself.

maybe they will hit it off, stranger things have happened.
