As mentioned already, it was done using logmein, and my roomate is the one who set everything up on their computer.

Simple firewall? Router? Format HDD? Any would have stoped him/her from getting caught.

Typically if you know how to impliment a solution like this you would be able to get said information without using a remote desktop client.

Thats where the ownage occured. The guy was too stupid to wipe the PC or connect it to the internet with a firewall or router...

firewall/router wouldnt help with logmein unless you specifically blocked that domain 🙂 i use it everywhere, even at my old apt complex where the entire complex was behind a private firewall
