You know it so funny that some people think that others are stupid. Carry a conceal weapon over here, try it. You might be able to conceal it where you come from, idiot, but how are you going to hide it in Hawaii. Try wearing something bulky here and see how far that gets you. Wow, talk about stupidity.

You really don't know anything about conceal carry, do you?

Pair of jean shorts and a loose t-shirt and you'd never know the difference.

Yep, you so smart. Come over and try it. Like you somewhere the people are so dense.

Oh Christ

Because Hawaii is the only place on earth that has a dense population area, and nobody has ever concealed carried in any urban environment, right?

Maybe that state of yours should worry less about its gun laws, and more about its educational system?

Yep. I have to yield to you because you're a legend here on AT. Being here so long that you're becoming a legend in your own mind.

Because it is so much hotter there than it is in South Texas.

So what are you going to wear here heavy jeans and shirts.
You'll look like an idiot trying to pull that off here. Get with it.
First, you never fit in and you'll get so much attention walking around.
You can try it, I'd love to see how you'll do it.
Remember, we all stupid country folk here. :)

Seriously, do yourself a favor and read up on all the options for concealed carry. You continue to show your ignorance concerning it.

Since I know the law here in Hawaii, the supposition is moot. My point is for you try it here and see how nice we'll treat you.

Yeah a gun presents a small but non-zero risk of injury by it's very existence. An intruder in your home presents a very large risk of injury which is likely to be lessened by the presence of said gun.

But wait a minute, as long as we're talking about non-zero risks, then a large number of our daily activities have a slight chance of causing injury to us and potentially anyone around us.

Do you drive a car? Can you imagine what it would be like if your steering and brakes were to fail at the same time while you were driving at ~70 mph on the interstate? It's a small, but definitely non-zero risk to drive your car.

Ok so that's extreme, let's say you're in your home and a guy breaks in. Let's go a bit further and say that he's got a criminal record that would land him in jail for a significant portion of his life (if not all of it) were he to be caught. He's armed and fully intending to use his weapon on whoever happens to live in the domicile. This guy's not gonna leave any witnesses. This situation also has a small but non-zero chance of occurring. The problem is that this situation would be pretty much beyond your control. While a firearm can be harnessed it can be made to work FOR you in a situation in which you might need it.

If you like to have crazy parties with drunken teenagers roaming all over your house then by all means, lock it up. I don't see where you have to lock the gun and the ammunition separately since the ammo is as likely to cause damage in its box as it is resting safely in the magazine of a gun (small but non-zero, etc.). Just don't have one in the barrel and don't allow anyone you don't trust access to it.

Big J, come and visit us some time. We had some fellows fly in from Vegas a few years back to teach us locals a lesson on Molokai. They never left. Stay where you are.
But if you had a loaded assault shotgun here, I know what would happen to you......

You're a fool. It's hotter in Texas than it is in Hawaii. I could be wearing shorts and a tshirt and still packing a medium framed automatic pistol.

If anyone actually goes to Hawaii to show you how very possible this is, I hope they put a few in you while they're at it.

You really don't get it...

You're spouting off about how it's impossible to carry a gun in Hawaii, this and that. Which is simply not true. You're disputing the very basis and concept behind concealed carry. The fact that if it's done right, nobody would ever know. It's that simple.

I've been to Hawaii. As stated above, it's a police state. And shotguns and assault rifles aren't illegal in Hawaii, several very well known gun magazine writers live in Hawaii, and even (GASP!) carry concealed weapons there with a state issued license!

Are you really so stupid as to ignore all the pictures posted above of people carrying concealed weapons under hawaiian shirts?

Here's an article about Hawaii preparing to pass a concealed carry bill. I guess that's useless since they'd "never get away with it."

You're not even reading the posts people are making. Hawaii is well on it's way to issuing concealed carry permits. You're a mother fvcking fool. You can't even speak properly.

Here is what I do. My USP40 handgun is the only gun I keep loaded with a round in the chamber. However I don't keep potential energy in the system with a round in the chamber (ie: sear cocked, springs compressed, etc). I can cock the hammer while drawing and taking aim (practice!) and if I have to I can take the first shot on double action.

My Mossberg 590 I keep loaded with 8 rounds in the tube and an empty chamber and keep it handy in the bedroom. Everything else I keep loaded mags but the weapons empty and in cases.

There is no problem keeping a round in the chamber so long as there is no chance of it going off (ie: don't keep it cocked in storage, only chamber rounds in weapons that have firing pin blocks or disconnectors, that don't allow the firing pin to move freely, don't keep any potential energy in the system just asking to be release like springs compressed, sears locked, hammers back, etc.) Just pick one or two primary defensive weapons to keep loaded and take "extra special" care of how you handle those (ie: keep them seperate from your "empty" guns, more out of reach, etc). For example my USP.40 is the one gun that is always loaded but its always on my belt or in the cabinet behind the bed, and it is always holstered with the hammer down and I always know where it is at all times.

And the AR in the pic before anyone spots the selector on fire who hasn't use a AR before, the selector will not mechanically go into safe unless the weapon is cocked.
