My review of the Nike+ Ipod Nano sensor

Well, went to Finish Line today and picked it up for $30.

Then went to the local highschool track to test it out. I was pretty surprised with the accuracy.

I ran 2 miles, and clocked in at 2.05 miles.

I think one of the factors that led to it being off was because I didn't stay in one lane. Didn't realize it until I was done with my run, but there were eight lanes, and I kept swerving in and outta different lanes. I guess it would only matter though when you're on the circle part of the track.

Oh and I didn't use the Nike+ shoes. I just stuck it between my laces on my adidas, LIKE SO.

Definitely recommend it if you run in the city/park/neighborhood/etc, or even if you run on a outdoor track. It's nice to know your approx. pace, calories burnt, and ofcourse, the online progress.

do you need an ipod to use it? Nike says it transmits data to your ipod, but 1) I don't own an ipod, and 2) if I did, I sure as hell wouldn't run with it.

It only works with the iPod Nano.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but why in the hell do you need special shoes to use this thing?

Nike makes shoes with a special pocket made just for the sensor

you don't need the Nike+ shoes. just find a way to keep it in your shoe and it works fine.

Ah, thought so...

how can it only work with the nano? I mean it appears to interface with the ipod through the dock connector, and all ipods (except for like the 1G and the shuffle...) have that. The thing that the nano has going for it is that it uses flash... so it could be argued that it is better suited for the task, that and it appears that the receiver appears to be designed to mate flush with the nano... but does one have to use the shuffle? I don't know
