After a month of use, my replacement 120GB IBM 180GXP (DEATHSTAR) just died. It goes 'click click click click click click click'... just like that..

Hitachi wouldn't do a drop shipment even if I gave them my credit card number.. They have a no-drop-shipment policy. So, I had to wait three weeks without having 120GB of storage. Now, I get to wait another 3 weeks... Wonderful.

I decided to back this drive up (all but about 500mb can be recovered).. But still, this is total bullsh!t..

So who else had replacement IBM Deathstars die on them?

I've had a few of them go bad at work. We have Dell Optiplex systems, and some of them came with deathstars. I think we've weeded most of them out.

Had 5 IBM HDDs go bad on me. Out of those 5, 2 of the replacements died...didn't even bother doing another RMA. The other 3 are still running though *knocks on wood*

Don't FS/FT the replacement. I withdrew my Maxtor replacement from sale here after I started having second thoughts about potentially subjecting someone worth somthing to the hell of a dead drive. EBAY the replacement, you'll get more than the cost of a far superior drive from a far superior manufacturer.
