Just a quick post here, asking everyone to check out my case mods site and tell me what you think of what I've done so far with my case and panel. It is still a work in progress, with plenty to do to get it ready for a LAN party next week, but I wanted to see what everyone thought of what I've done so far.

Lookin good, your case should look nice and warm (color temperature) when you're done. U gonna clear coat it?

Bump. Any other comments?

Don't know if I'll clear coat it or not. Thinking right now I'll just leave it at paint and polish, and see how it holds up. I have extra paint if it chips, so I can always repaint it and clear coat it. I'm happy with how it looks now, though, and don't want to clearcoat it and risk screwing it up.

That's pretty nice work you did there. I have an extra case lying around that needs to be repainted. How did you make that nice miror finish? I looked at your site but didnt' see any specific info about it.

The site link is back a few weeks in the archives. Not surprised you didn't see it. Check out http://www.pc-workshop.net/articles/paint101/paint101-1.shtml for the details. One important thing that I didn't understand when I first read the article is that your case will not be reflective until you apply the rubbing compound (covered on page four of the PC-Workshop article). I expected so gloss after my 1000 or 1500 grit sanding, and that isn't how it works. Also, I found out from reading the forum there that you shouldn't apply your polish until the paint has had a few days to dry and harden. Looks like maybe waiting until then to apply the final rubbing compound application might help too. Just making sure everyone knows what's going on, as I don't believe it was spelled out clearly in the article.

Wow, that's one nice case RagManX. BTW, nice article also, it has inspired me to try to paint one (and eventually all) of my cases. But first I think I'll practice on that old AT case I have in the garage, so if I screw up, it won't really matter. :)

Looks nice, good paint job. Post some more pics when it's finished, judging from how it looks now it'll look great.

Window in the top is planned. I'm going out this afternoon to get gold strips to place around the cutout, and I'll be using rivets to hold the window in place. Painting is almost finished on the left side panel - just need to sand and paint one more time, then use rubbing compound and polish and put the window in. I'm going to try folding my cables out of the way instead of getting rounded cables, and when I get my spir@l block, I'm going water cooling with as few fans as possible.

Keep watching the site. As I get more work done, I'll post more pictures on my site, so check in every day or two. Should finish the DVD window mod tonight or tomorrow and get pictures up. I have a LAN party on the 23rd, and my goal is to have everything finished before then except the water cooling and possible the front door mirage paint.

Thanks for the responses and site visits. Now if I could just make a living doing this for others.
