My Receiver Was Fried Last Night

So, my Denon has been on the fritz ever since my dad gave it to me. It needs the board to be slightly flexed to work or otherwise there is a no sound (should have been a thread where I was trying to figure out what was wrong with it). I have my sub hooked up to it as well so it comes on at the same time (might have contributed to it's death). Anyways, fired it up last night when my friend was over and the first thing i saw was a big blue flash of light. Then slightly afterwards you could smell that the bastard was dead and smoke started coming out of the receiver. The lights on the front were blinking so I unplugged it and had to unhook everything. I hate it when upgrades are forced on me =(

All I seen was when you were debating on this and car stuff and something else. Eh, good thing your house isn't on fire.

No profit. All you get is marshmallows with the Very Bad Smell.

Edit: NaOH: There's a reason you get intermittent equipment repaired, rather than waiting for a catastrophic failure; as montypythizzle implied, sometimes that catastrophic failure becomes truly catastrophic (house fire, anyone?). Count your blessings you're only shopping for a new receiver.

Lucky for you, the Onkyo 507 and 607 were announced not too long ago. Both look like pretty good deals, especially if the 607 slides down to $400 street price. Of course, you might have had a rocking Denon, in which case: 🙁.

Yeah, lesson learned. I was just going to replace it but have been putting it off.
