MY puppy has a problem..

She is a one year old red healer chesapeek bay hound mix. Recently i noticed this bump on her side under her skin. it doesnt seem to bother her but the other day it got a little bigger. Noww it seems its staying the same size. I have seen this happen with older dogs but I dont think they should get it this young. She has been scooting lately (butt against carpet and scoots along with her front feet), so im gonna worm her soon, could it have to do with that? Also we have been feeding her this crappy wal-mart ol roy dog food cause we are low on cash. She has become quite the little chunk, could that have anything to do with it? I did call the vet, they said it could just be a growth or it may be cancerous :S there is no real way to tell over the phone though. And to get her checked out its gonna cost like 37 bucks. Has anyone here ever had a dog this young have a problem like this?

Not in heat(shes been fix0red) and hell no, It dont look like that. Its the size between a marble and a ping pong ball tending to the marbles size.

I dont hate to say it, if you cant take care of your dog find a nice family that can.
She should not have to deal with medical problems cause your short on cash.

Please take her to a vet.

It could be harmless, my pup had a similar bump and it turned out to be a benign histiocytoma and went away after 4-6 weeks, but you do not want to take the chance of it becoming more serious.

Please also put her on better food, sacrifice a little so you can afford it. Have your vet recommend stuff, but a lot of that wal-mart and other stuff is filler and fats and not good for the pups health.

It is also dangerous to let such a young dog get overweight. At that age their bones/joints are still forming and the extra weight puts them at greater risk for hip/elbow problems later in life. Try to get her on a better food with appropriate portions (don't free-feed) and get her regular exercise.

As far as the scooting, she may just need her anal glands expressed. The vet will usually do this for free or at a low charge.

I don't know about that conclusion because finances can come and go, but its only $40...see a vet, put it on visa if necessary. You can get medication prescriptions from the vet the and buy the drugs online if necessary, they are much cheaper.

Well i should be taking her in VERY SOON. I was anyway using my money for my a7n8x. But the dog is more important to me. She isnt FAT fat, just a little chunky. We got her new food yesterday. I will keep in mind about the table scraps.

Thats what im afraid of. How long did your dog have it before you went in? If they have it is it already too late? or was it just too late in your case?

as said above, the scooting may just be anal glands that need to be expressed. the vet can do this, and a lot of groomers will do it too.

scooting usually means they just need a good wiping of their ass haha...seriously, next bath you give your dog, don't be afraid to wash that area thoroughly...the dog will feel much more comfortable afterwards.
