I ran into this quote:

It's always darkest just before things go totally black.

So, um, QED. :)

I can't believe there is no one here geeky enough to find this funny.

I think we're all geeky enough to understand it.

Personally, I don't find it too humorous. Sorry.

Two atoms walking down the street.
One atom says to the other, "I think I lost an electron."
"Are you sure?"
"I`m positive."

I know what you mean! EVIL CALCULUS! btw, our quiz was similar to yours.

You ready for the Java midterm?

Alphathree33: I didn't get the joke..explain. I do know what IVT is though.

It wasn't really supposed to be ha-ha funny, it was just supposed to be a little brain teaser in this way: If the value you're looking for is totally black, you must pass through the level of darkness just before that if the function is continuous.

Really, I don't even know why I posted it. I read that quote and that's what I thought of and I thought someone might derive some little tidbit of value from the idea. :)

I haven't started studying for Java, but that's ok. I took a course in gr12 that covered half the stuff in APS105, so I'm just gonna study on monday night.

btw, check out the coolest project in ufT Robocup. I'm thinking of joining...it'd very cool :D

it does look interesting...but the Formula SAE team is wayy cooler! I just got back from watching them at the UofT Shoot-Out. One of the dudes who used tobe on the UofT team, he now graduated, and works for the Porsche GT1 Team!!! PORSCHE!

Your "proof" is correct only if you assume that things like light switches do not exist (in math terms -- the conclusion of the intermediate value theorem is not necessary true for non-continuous functions).

First, it's hilarious that you've taken this so seriously.

Secondly, even with a lightswitch, some of the photons still bounce of the wall and the tungston is still emitting some light even after the switch is turned off. It doesn't go from an intensity of 'x' to an intensity of '0' instantaneously, just very, very quickly.

I went to the first few meetings (one with lots of ppl in MC102 and the one in the mech building the following monday -- I was gonna help out with the electrical stuff), but I'm not gonna do that. I'm not into cars and the car isn't really related to what I'm gonna study. But I think this robocup one will be the one I join :)
