Swapped in a new CPU, and no more errors :)

Whats the point in dumbing down high performance memory?

You could try splitting up the chips (non-dual-channel), and see if the same problem occurs. Otherwise it could be the timings, voltage, mobo, bios, or psu. As for 'dumbing down' the hi-perf memory, faster timings don't always mean better perf. I'm running my Mushkin redline at 2.5-3-4-10-2.8V @ 420mhz, since it actually runs faster than 2.0-3-3-6-2.9V @ 440mhz. I guess the 512kb L2 cache is picking up enough slack in the pipeline that memory speed doesn't matter. Besides, you do what you can to gain stability.

I would recommend trying a BIOS update, since most mobos are known to have dual-channel issues at time of release anyways. Also, try tweaking BIOS settings for better stability. Try this guide.
