well.. i've seen the computer systems that everyone seems to be bragging about. Here's my sys...

K6-2 450MHz
128MB RAM
ATI 3D PRO PC2TV <---(mach64 chip.. WATCH OUT!)
56K winmodem
ensoniq audiopci
10bT linksys ethernet card
4.3GB HD <----(i know.. huge)
17" Trinitron

humourous isn't it? sucks that i can't afford to keep up with the technology.

I wouldn't laff. Those K6-2 450's scream compared to probably 75% of the systems in use today. I sell a bunch of them and I'm impressed.

My friend has a K6-2 300, and he used to only have 32MB of ram, I was amazed at how fast it still was with only 32MB!

Well my main computer is a Pentium Overdrive 83MHz with 24MB EDO ram, so don't feel bad. 😀

My main computer is still a P200MMX, 64MB, 3GB drive, and a X8 CDROM. I consider a machine like yours good for another 2 years (unless you want to do 3D gaming, in which case you really should get a new display card - the Mach64 has no 3D capabilites whatsoever)

I do have a new machine ordered

Throw in a simple (and cheap) Voodoo3! If you can't disable the onboard video, throw in a Voodoo2! (Even cheaper!) Either one is well under $100!
I have a Celeron 450A which is very similar as far as speed goes... as tempting as it would be to get something better, I must admit that with my Voodoo3 card, there's nothing I can't run more than adequately. Maybe not at 1600x1200, but 800x600 or 1024x768 looks fine to me!

Tried to get Quake 3 to work on an ISA video card. Didn't work - no OpenGL drivers. 🙁

I wonder if the UT software renderer would have worked, but I didn't have enough disk space to install it. 😛

heh.. i think the last time i played quake i played...
Quake 1 with my matrox millenium.

Don't get me wrong i'm not at all dissapointed with my system. There are just sometimes that i would like to have clean fast 3d graphics that utilize my AGP port and costs less than $60!
good luck me

There are some deals on a Voodoo3 2000 for about $60. Check it out, that would do wonders for your machine. 🙂

Seeing this post made me realize something...the P3 700e@933+ coming in isn't necessary. Wait, I knew that. 🙂 But it will hold off an upgrade for awhile!!! 🙂

I should be the one bringing up this thread. Main computer here:

P233 MMX
32mb Ram
4.3 HD
2mb Video Integrated
Turtle Beach Sound Card. OLD VERSION

You guys don't have it so bad.
As for PowerJoe. Sucks don't it?

heh...

i know i don't really have much to moan about.

However, my computer up till last september when i upgraded was a
P-166
32 EDO
4.3MB HD

blah blah

same video, sound, etc.

I basically did a motherboard transplant. so far, no problems 🙂
