My wife is taking the pup to get spayed today. I feel so bad but its for the best. This my first dog and now I understand how everyone becomes so attached to them. Its like she's my kid or something. You can call me a big wuss if you want, cuz I am. I love my mutt though.

The day we got her

Why would you feel bad? You're doing the right thing.

Feel bad because they got have to cut her open. She'll be hurting a bit when its all said and done till it heals.

I hear they tend to gain some weight once they get their tubes tied. I'm gonna have a little porker on my hands.

Understandable but she'll be fine. My cat was back to normal a week after getting fixed. Plus remember your dog doesn't have to get up & go to work in the morning, pay bills, clean, etc etc. She's got it easy.

Just keep the dog away from bowls of gasoline, and you will be okay.

Some years back, my then ~6 year old son starts screaming from the other room. I run in to see my kid curled up on the floor and the spaniel humping the back of his head (thankfully). Had his sorry ass snipped ASAP. The dog, not the boy. And I smiled when I wrote the check to the vet.

Wait until the kid turns 16, you'll regret not having him done too.

That's a dominance thing... I had my dog's balls chopped off when he was 6 months old, and he still humps some dogs when he plays with them. Its fun watching an 80lb GSD mix hump a 140lb St. Bernard.

Sounds a bit harsh of a punishment just for stealing the rug but I agree that you have to discipline them.

Not as funny as a 10 pound miniature pinscher humping a 120 pound Great Pyrenees.
