i got this on ebay for $405 + $25 shipping. apparently it just came out , and well i had to risk it on a guy with low feedback. but well its here nonetheless.
there are no reviews online anywhere. this LCD is absolutely gorgeous. to look at style wise and image wise.
i am coming from a NEC 15" LCD1545V analog LCD for reference.
anyways the philips is a 17" widescreen analog / digital monitor
1280x768 resolution , 350:1 contrast, 450 cd/m^2 brightness
25ms resfresh
first off, this thing is insanely bright. colors come out really well on it. the analog output is very good. i cant really compare it to digital since i dont have a dvi card currently and it didnt come with a dvi cable.
the pivot feature (makes it into a 768 x1280 landscape LCD) is somewhat neat. there is special software for that. i think if you were into desktop publishing you'd appreciate it more than i have. it looks great on DVDs, no ghosting and again the great brightness makes colors come out really well. i am not a gamer (i dont game, and i am using the nforce2 igp ) so i dont have any comments on the gaming ness. but since its 768 rows, you could run 1024x768 in 4:3 ratio and it should still look correct.
the dvi input though is still making me consider buying a new card (even though nforce2 igp analog output on this thing looks perfect)
style wise, well its fairly small bezeled, with silver paint and a shiney silver philips logo. the base is charcoal. i'd say the monitor is beautiful. another nice thing is like my old NEC monitor, it has the power supply integrated so there is no external power brick like some LCDs have.
here is what it looks like.

most places online carry it for $600 or so plus shipping. i did find one place that had it pagecomputers.com that had it for $400 but is out of stock. so for any movie watchers, and widescreen potential buyers, well i recommend this thing. very good value.
