I have three cats and they are pretty smart for the most part. They play fetch better than any dog I've ever had. But, they also do some amazingly 'stupid' things. For example, they LOVE to watch ice melt. Yes, they watch ice melt. Anytime we get ice from our freezer, they stand behind us basically begging until we put ice in their water dish. Then they just sit around the dish watching intensely as the ice cubes melt. They don't drink from the bowl or try to play with the cubes, they just watch the ice melt.

Just curious about other people's pet idiosyncracies.

Hmm....watching ice melt huh?

I think your cats are on drugs. :Q

Cat one: Whoa...he put more ice in the bowl. Cool.

Cat two: Look at all the colors, man.

Cat three: Man...I'm wasted. The ice is totally weirding me out. It's like it knows what I'm thinking.

:p

I knew some people that had dogs that loved to listen to Rush Limbaugh. The owners would leave the radio on and the dogs would go in during Rush's show and leave the room when it was over.

Maybe it's the whine from his voice...matches a higher frequency that only dogs hear?

their sense of smell for baloney is pretty acute!

our cat showers with Mrs. Spamela - doesn't know that cats are supposed to hate water.

My cat regularly runs in to the glass door of our tv stand when we leave it open. Then he sits down on the ground and shakes his head like he hears bells or something. For a creature that supposedly has such good eyesight, he sure does that a lot. :D

Our cat goes climbing on the chairs. She's able to jump all the way up, but she'll start at the bottom and slowly climb up. When she was a kitten she managed to go all the way up a screen door, then cross over to the other (double doors), and hang there until someone let her in.

She's also stalked not only wild turkeys, but deer.

LOL that's good. One of our two cats (the smarter one we think) when I have ice in my glass and no more water she loves to play with the ice and get it out on the carpet. Then she'll stare at it for a few seconds, then try and remove more ice and lick her paws.

My cat is pretty dumb at times too. I thought that cats were supposed to have good babance..not ours. it will be walking on the couch or monitor and it will fall...even if no one pushes it.
Plus, everytime i take a shower he wants to see whats going on in the tub, so he climbs up and then falls in and freaks out. every single morning.

our old cat used to sleep ontop of opened doors so we had to becarful not to slam doors when the car is no where to be found. It would also not eat the other half of canned cat food if it has been in the fridge.

I'll be impressed when you say she was able to bring one home...

My dog, a cocker spaniel, had a strange, but very distinct habit. Each night at about 11 PM he'd go in the kitchen, get in the corner and start to dig there. Only when I wasn't there and when the light was off. If I come in there he'd stop 'digging' and go away. He's dead now.
