I like to use AnalogX's Atomic TimeSync. Make sure to change the server from the default to the server located physically closest to you from the list here or here.

It might also be that your CMOS battery is dying out. Might want to get a replacement and seeing if that fixes it.

This thread got me wondering...

1. How long do CMOS batteries normally last?

2. Where do you buy CMOS batteries? Are they "watch" type batteries?

3. If you remove the CMOS battery, do you lose all BIOS settings?

I got one computer that loses time, another compuer the BIOS keeps puking/resetting (says something like "the processor is unworkable"). Annoying...

They normally last a VERY long time...like 5 or more years...but they do sometimes drain prematurely. You can get them at Radioshack for sure.. If you remove the battery you will most likely lose your BIOS settings...just write them down before removing the battry.

i've never had a mainboard that kept truly acurate time and i've used more than a dozen various brands and worked on many more.
like others have said just update the time when your online.

mine mb is like a year old and i noticed that since i got it..i've had other pcs and same thing..so i figured that is related to cpu usage or something.....

You can use a Windows time keepig utility but the system will use the BIOS time + or - the last Windows difference when you reboot. The BIOS clock on my MSI 645 Ultra gains 20 mins in a 72hr period which sucks big time as $5.00 digital watches keep better time than that.

Computers are notorious for being BAD time keepers, something to do with how the cpu counter works😕
