People are joking b/c a major part of your complaint was that your parents are no longer going to buy you a >$10,000 car to replace your <$10,000 PoS since $10k is apparently the magic number where a car goes from crap to good.

Everyone feels for you getting bad grades. Had you said "I'm upset b/c I got bad grades and now I'm grounded, can't see my BF and afraid I won't get into college" you might have gotten a gram of sympathy.
