Au contraire mon ami. If she were in the US, she would have been held at gun point. At least in France her life wasn't in danger. But if we all had guns, we could've had an old fashioned street gun fight over a purse!

heh. Or maybe if she had been in the US, she would not have been held up at all. See, my statement is similar to yours. Meaning they're both wrong and stupid 😉

Actually, Jello, I was rolling my eyes at the inane stupidty of 95% of the posts regarding guns and gun control. This sort of statement seems to pervade the halls of the Anandtech forums. Simply because certain individuals have various negative predispositions to guns doesn't give them the right to make arbitrary statements about law abiding citizens who carry weapons for personal defense. We've rehashed this discussion a thousand times. Violent crime is LOW in the United States when you compare it to other 1st world nations such as Great Britain and Australia because of our right to bear arms. I'm trying not to hijack Aphex's thread. Do a search on guns. You'll come up with a hundred different threads on the subject. I remember one recently where I actually researched recent statistics regarding violent crime and handgun control laws.

So, I do have something to say. Whether or not it is in response to truth is not the issue. Inane comments regarding violent crime and guns are all too common around here.

Like it or not, there would have been a much higher chance of the mugger having a gun in the USA. I support the right to bear arms by the way.

I agree. Idiotic comments really tick me off, though. So instead of blowing my lid, it's easier to roll my eyes.

Ask her for the card number, or have her call

#1. Shes in paris, cant dial ANY 800 numbers.
#2. Dosent have ending card number, as her card is no longer with her.

This is why you should keep a photocopy of all credit cards and id with you when your overseas. It saved my but when I was in England and the bartender "returned" my credit card to some other guy, who promptly walked off with it. That caused a major scene, but it was worth about 60 quid in free drinks. It was a pain to get my new card though.

If you don't have the card number, she will have to call. Your name isn't on the account so a rep won't let you do anything. See if you can get a hold of a statement or something that has the number on it. Then you can report it stolen over the automated system...

My bro went to Europe for a semester, and many of his classmates got their money/wallets stolen. He suggested wearing one of those waiste pouches, because tourists stick out to thiefs like a sore thumb. They're waiting for you to bring your purses and unprotected wallets to them.

When my fiance and her friends went to Paris, they had to carry all their luggage on the Metro (train). It was relatively late at night (11pm I think) and there were few people on board. This one shady looking guy (unshaved, dirty clothes) followed them off one train and onto another. He definitely had a special interest in them since he kept looking over. He got off at the same station again after the 2nd train and stood near them as they were planning on what to do next. Finally they decided to just look back at him and kind of tell him they're not scared (as a group of course) ... yay NYC girls. He finally left the platform.

Sorry it wasn't more exciting for you, but it's still a story in Paris.

I worked at the Customer Service Call Center for Shell cards if your card and your mom's card are on the same account they can cancel her specific card without having to cancel your card because they both under the same account the last 4-5 digits on the cards just refer to the number of cards issued on the account. This is only for the Shell gas card though if the stolen card was for the Chase-Shell Credit card you would need to call Chase to cancel the card.

Example if you mom's card had the last four digits of 4001 your card has 4002 it means she had card 1 and you card 2.

That's why I haven't moved to France yet. WTF? Well, I just, like don't have any means of making any money in France. And since I'm a pathetic loser, such a risky career is inappropriate for me. I'd lose in a second.

PS Sorry for your mom and dad... I hope nothing utterly important was stolen...

Hey guys, i didnt start this thread to start a flame war about france. It was simply to ask how i can report a card stolen while the customer service center was closed.

It could have been anywhere, believe me i know, i spent a semester in Europe last semester.

Since all the cards have subsequently been reported stolen, and all is now fine, im requesting a lock on this thread.

Thanks to those who have helped.
