<< Get a job shagging shopping carts or working as a dishwasher. Then you'll have a point of reference for the absolute worse job. This will act as a natural motivator, since you will never want to go back. >>

amen to that.

If you want to learn something USEFUL for a future dealing with computers, get a job working at a local computer store doing repair/tech work.

If you think you know too much to do that, you don't.

alright, do you want to make money, or do you want to get experience?

if you want experienced, i agree, find something tech support related or anything computer related

if you want money, find ANY restaurant and work there, preferably as a busser, or a host if you have to

when you're 16, ask to be bumped to busser or whatever

when you're 18(for most places, maybe earlier depending on what place you work at), ask to get bumped to server

after a year of that, while you're in college, you can easily make upwards of $70/hour :Q

See if you can get a job at a VAR or small consultancy. Chances are you'll start by building/staging PCs (loading & configuring) the O/S & Apps, then work your way into service, then into the networking.

The place I used to work for used to get a couple High School interns every year. All of them proved themselves to be valuable & hard-working folks, all of 'em got a pretty decent raise.

The small shops are likely to be more flexable with the scheduling, some kinda look at it as "Growing your own Employees" and make an effort to get you some practical education.

Good Luck, work hard, enjoy the benefits.

Not in the area you want but...
People everywhere are looking for childcare. This can be VERY lucrative!! You are at a very weird age for employment. Old enough to handle responsibility but just a little too young at accept the accountablility. Tuff it out. Your parents should understand that transportation will be an issue.

If you offer normal work hour childcare.. the parents can drop off the child for you. Good luck

First off, speaking from a parents view,it's good for you (and the bucks in your pocket don't hurt either). Personally, see if you can't get on at a local seller, or even at a Best Buy, CompUSA, etc- it would be a change to have someone there who actually knew something!
BTW, I "made" my kids work from age 14 up
Now, from a "geek-slacker" viewpoint (mainly for onreyness) tell them you have a interview for being a part-time network administrator, base pay is $43,000, you'd be working with the servers, with some web work (mainly setting up web pages, etc)...........for a pron site. Nuthin else, it'll aggrevate them!
BTW- the above is a true story- my Father-in-Law is an advisor to his fraternity- one of the College kids there does that......

That's great that you have the certs and all.. but you will soon learn (I guess not soon) that experience is the key to getting a good paying IT job (not that it helps if the economy sux). Start doing ANYTHING related to IT now at 15 years old and you will kick ass when it comes time to graduate college. I did many computer-related jobs (and gladly did non-paying internships) thru college and it helped me big time. They were looking at experience more than anything else, including grades. So start now and do many of them (be a jack of all trades - master of one comes later) over the next 6 years. You will do quite well for yourself. And don't forget who told ya. ;) j/k.

<< First thing is, do you have a workers permit?

Without that I think that the only hours you can work are like 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Then certain hours on Weekends. There's a lot of nasty child labor laws that the employer has to work around if you don't have a permit
>>

Uh, to my knowledge, you can't work AT ALL under 16 w/o a work permit. When I was 14 I had to get one, no matter how limited my hours were.

My first choice was at like BestBuy or Compusa, so so pay and employee discounts...:), but to work at BestBuy you need to be 16:( and Compusa wasn't hiring and if they were I think you need to be 18(can anyone confirm for me?). Working in a resturant isn't ideal for me as my parents own a resturant and before you say just work for them, this place doesn't have very many customers anymore(use to do very well until these other peoples started making resturants on every other freaking street...). Baby sitting isn't to bad, but I don't know anyone who needs it and it would be extremly unlikely for any good parent to bring their kids into the neighborhood I live in. I know that my certs are basically worthless, my A+ is the only one that I could say that I fully deserve. The others are basically just there to make the A+ look less lonely lol.

DDad, I think I would have to be 18 to work for anything p0rn related, but if I could get that job at that pay, I'd be like it's just the entertainment biz, you know the computers hold pictures and movies..., they probably wouldn't care what it was if I was making 43,000 part time, hehe that's probably about what BOTH my parents make full time(in their resturant).
