The reason why i got this cpu is for the lower power consumption. I put it in and i see that everytime i enable EIST, it just gets disabled when I go into the BIOS the next time. XP is in max battery mode, but i'm still running at 3.0 ghz, is anyone else experiencing this here?

Also, my default vcore for this board is at 1.25, i' going to try and lower it. i've seen on some forums that people are running at 1.0 or below, anyone else try this?

i really don't want to get another motherboard, as this thing has been rock solid and i've had no problems with it whatsoever, and i would probably have to sell it for not even close to what i paid for it :(

At least it's not like Gigabyte... the retards can't implement a functional EIST/C1E and the C2D has been out for over a year and a half. The moment you change your VCore on a Gigabyte board the voltage will not drop like it should in idle mode.

Try Rmclock. The beta (see the RMclock forums) seems to have minimal support the E8400. The only way I can get my multi to drop from 9.0 on an IP35 Pro is with RMclock. I've only experimented a bit with it though, and it did cause a lockup once when I was switching back and forth between 9x and 6x.
