My P4 is running at 70C...

When Norton does its full system scan, my laptop reaches 70C. This can't be good. I'm not too worried because I've been running this scan everyday for the past few months and I've never had an issue. I just noticed the temp for the first time today because I found some software which shows that (not MBM). Should I be worried?

Could it also be that Intel has far more saturation in the laptop market? You can't buy a Dell or Gateway laptop with AMD for example.

To try and help answer the question now, I agree with PraetorianGuards, laptops generally do run hot. Several people I know have had temps that reached about 70C under load and they have had no trouble. I think you probably don't need to worry. If you start experiencing heat related errors (shut downs, freezing, etc) you might want to contact tech support for your laptop. You could also do this if you are worried about your temps.

If it's a P4 I wouldnt worry ablout it,if it gets too hot it will throttle down the mhz to keep cool.

It's a price to pay for high performance laptops I guess

Is it a P4-M? Because that thing will change speed according to different avriables, I suppose heat could be one of them
