My p3 decided it hates me and will not boot, please help

My P3 which is my single largest contributer to RC5 decided to crap out on me, can someone help please?

Reflash BIOS, and reset to default

Does the system "lock-up" when your in the system bios? Boot the PC & enter the bios setup, let the pc sit there for @ least 5-10 Min.
If the system locks up?
it's either a heat problem witht the CPU
Or power problem. (Check the power supply voltages & all cable connections)
If @ all possible, find another CPU to test the system with.

If the system will operate properly in the system bios, but locks up soon after exiting the bios.
It's probably a RAM issue. Change memory slots & or DIMMs if possible.

LMK how things turn out.

Actually I think its a bios issue, flashed the BIOS but 6 "blocks" are showing "Write Fail"

UhOh, time to flash an older BIOS back onto you mobo while you still can.

Sounds like he can't do much either way. It wasn't booting with an older BIOS, the new one won't write. Sounds like a bad PROM.

Ok I kinda disapeared there and just sat down with it to try and get it bootable. After trying to flash the bios over and over with hopes of not getting the errors I just turned it off and started looking for a replacement. But I couldn't decide so I went to work on it again, booted it back up, flashed it and it came out fine. I don't know why or how but the flash worked. My bios is working ok now but my Win2k stuff is mildly screwed up. I got RC5 running again so Im gonna leave it for now and fix it in the morning.
