My Overclocking Plan: How Does This Look?

Hi there,

I am planning on upgrading my T-Bird 1.1Ghz to the following specs for max overclocking in about one month, when I have the cash:

Intel Pentium 4 1.6a OEM CPU
Asus P4B266 Motherboard
1 512MB stick of Corsair PC2100 RAM
1 Alpha PAL 8942 w/ quiet fan
Arctic Silver III

I hope to be able to get up around 1.4Ghz with this. Are there any components that anyone thinks should be different?

Thanks! 😀

ummm yeah. I think the 1.6ghz cpu will reach 1.4.

I think he meant 2.4 GHz in which case you would well to get a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS PC2700

Oops, typo 🙂 Sorry about that, I meant 2.4Ghz... I would sure hope it hit 1.4Ghz! 😀

Thanks for the suggestion on the RAM!

Also, what about the Asus P4B533 board that is coming out, which I already see listed on their site...? Would that be a better buy for overclocking than the P4B266, since I wouldn't be buying this for at least a month?
