Just get ones that are thick. I don't like the silicone ones because they are mostly made with ridges so the parts in between the ridges don't have much protection.

I wish I could give more information about them... A friend brought me some gloves that they use where he works. They don't feel much different from cotton work gloves, but there's some sort of coating on the outside; a sort of plastic, in little dots applied next to each other all over. It's very heat resistant. I can pick burning logs out of a fire with them.

I've got pure silicone pads with little magnets embedded in them. When not in use, I just toss them at the side of the stove and they stick perfectly. I haven't been burned or even felt any heat through them yet.

sconded. I have a couple of silicone ones and they suck. They still get hot, and they are hard to get a good grip on anything with.

You're probably referring to The Ove Glove and we love ours!

We bought it on sale at Walgreen's for $14.99 - $5 MIR = $9.99 OTD

I remember seeing Alton Brown on Good Eats a ways back, and he noted that he uses welding gloves as his oven mitts. I'm going to look into this.
As for the Ove Glove that some are touting, I've read the reviews and while everyone seems to say they are comfortable, many users complain that they don't protect against the heat. If true, what's the point?

That's very similar to what I have. The ones I have came from a company where the employees used them on an assemblyline while handling very hot items.

Since we bought ours 1-1.5 years ago it doesn't have those spots which I assume are for gripping? We still love ours and use it exclusively. If we lost or damaged it, I'd definitely buy another one.
