um yeah...i kinda ran my 8290 thru the wash just now... cool huh? not really... but surprisingly, after i used my case fans to dry off the parts, it powered on....displayed the 'cingular' logo...and showed me 3 bars of reception. and of course, when i tried to call my girlfriend, i got the typical 'system busy' message... that's the ucla dorms for ya. looks like everything is normal again....

blo0p~!

btw: that is one tough one you have there. I don't think my flip-flop tek can survive drops of water on any surface of the phone.

it's official! it still works... the water marks may never leave the screen though. but i guess my girlfriend was right all along--there was nothing to worry about. =P it's a woman thing huh?

Yeah.. but I still think the phone is weak as hell. The phone fell off the table once while vibrating from an incoming call. Just that one freaking fall, the LCD screen doesn't show up half the time anymore. I need to squeeze the display area and do all sorts of other trickery to get the sucker to display anything.

Oh and the freaking POS has a 2.7mm headset outlet, not the universal 2.5mm so my $35 Sony Wisp.Ear doesn't work with it. $&)@*#U()*@#

My gf has the 8260, and it's definitely the Kia of cell phones. One month after she got it, a small bottle of anti-bacterial hand cleaner leaked in her bag and some got on the phone. Total meltdown. Sent it into Nokia for a replacement. Got new replacement and it works fine for a few months until one drop on the ground destroys the LCD. The damn phone was in a leather case, and the display still broke. The phone worked otherwise, but no display. Send that one back, and got a new one. At least Nokia hooked it up when their phone breaks.

I always talk in the shower with my phone! :) I also once left it out in a puddle of melted snow water earlier this year when I dropped it from jumping around in the streets throwing snowballs. It sat in the water for about 20 minutes when I started looking for it. Called it and said "NO" to myself and went outside with my friends fone and guess what? It was ringing in the frozen water in the street!

Worked fine after that until I dropped it again and it wouldn't turn on anymore. Good thing I had insurance!

i guess i am pretty lucky... i work up this morning, screwed the lcd part back to the midplate, and boom! my lcd screen is back to normal, no watermarks whatsoever. ALL buttons are back to normal... the battery that was in it works (i have 2)... and even the INFRARED works! this, i am totally amazed. must've been a sign from heave that my midterm will go well today. it's in 20 minutes. :) i wonder if it's the liquid all detergent that i used...
