I went to Kroger to get some dinner about 10:30 lastnight, and in front of me at the checkout line was this VERY pregnant lady. When the bill came up, she handed over on of those government welfare checks. While the cashier finished the transaction I heard a cell phone ring, it was the welfare leeche's phone. As it turns out, the phone was the latest model Motorolla, expensive little flip phone. While talking on this phone, I notice all the jewlery she is wearing. Next I come up and pay for my dinner, a sandwich and a coke, Then on my way out to the car, I see the WELFARE LEECH getting into a 2001 Mitsubishi convertible ECLIPS, and the stereo sounds like a concert hall. Now here is my beef, if she can afford the car, the phone, the jewels, and the stereo, she can damn well pay for her own flippin groceries.

I sure would like to know the details behind that one. On the surface it looks pretty bad. I can't imagine why she would be eligible for welfare....could it have been employment insurance or maternity leave?

Krogers, eh? Where are you from, the only Krogers I know of is in West Virginia. Im actually from California.
But uh, yeah, what you saw seems initially very bad. Someone needs to take the law into their own hands!!!

How much you want to bet she also has cable, a VCR ,and a big screen TV?

No wonder I don't pity the poor in America.

Damn that's messed. But thats how it is. How's this one. I see a Samoan man who lives in the housing paying for groceries with a EBT card, when I'm walking out I see him get into a brand new Ford Expedition, pimped out with 19" chrome rims and a full sound system. He drove into the "housing". By housing I mean free houses provided by the government. :|

Damn, if he can afford a car I'll never have how come he's living in government homes and has a welfare card. :(

Here's one for ya. A long time ago a Friend of mines step sister had a baby and started to get her monthly welfare check soon after. Not married, no job....

she then found out that you get more money if you have more kids, not to long after she was pregnant again, still not married and still no job. :disgust:

Those are leaches. They should cut all welfare and make them suffer. Maybe then they'll get they're lazy asses out of the house and get jobs. :|

it's even worse in Canada (Quebec)... My dad has a couple of apartment buildings where the rent is pretty cheap, and you wouldn't believe what people on wellfare can own sometimes. Yet, they always have a hard time paying the rent on time...

being pregnant and not working is a precarious situation, i think if you guys were pregger and not working, you might think differently of the situation...

i'm all about collecting gov't cheese, you have any idea how much $$ i've paid the gov't in the last ten years? Like over $200 grand in taxes, and what have I gotten back from them? Other than bumpy roads?

I'd be hatin life if i had a baby in my stomach, and no job..

I worked at a Kroger's for 5 years ( In West Virginia :) ) and that kinda crap happens all the time. There was one lady with a newish caddy that alway pissed me off. The main thing that pissed me was about 80% of the people on stamps would spend half or more of their stamps on crap like soda and junkfood and then buy cigs/chew(its popular here :) ) or alcohol with whatever cash they had.

Its one thing to file for unemployment while on leave from your job (new teachers don't get much maternity time, for example, so they sometimes have to take unpaid time off to have their baby), I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't agree with the "more babies = more cash" side of Welfare....I think it just adds to families that would be better off with one or two children.

I have a cousin who knocked up his girlfriend. He got to attend college for free, all on the government's tab. He busied his college career taking courses like "billiards" and "history of abnormal sex". Oh, did I mention that every tax payer in here helped to pay his bill at school?

Kroger's are all over in Ohio, northern indiana. I think its a reigional thing.

Is this a new thing your just now noticing?
I mean Im 25 and have seen crap like this my whole life!
Multiple new cars, beepers, phones, nice stereo's, nice clothes, 30 pair of shoes, big screens anything new video game, and last but not least 4 kids....oh and no job!
I work 2 jobs and go to school full time and dont live as good os some of these people

:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

I think its a tradition, I mean it starts in school with free lunch.
I paid for my lunch everyday in school when others had free lunch while wearing all the new styles and buying extra food with cash...

:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

I stand in line @ the store in the 15 or less cash only with one or two items while they stand in the same line with 27 items and food stamps. They buy their food with the food stamps and then whip out a wad of cash to pay for their beer and cigarettes.

:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

I ride through the projects and see the lexus's and 4 door trucks 4 and 5 new cars to a house with 22" rims booming with bass....

:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

Me in my new Nissan Frontier which I struggle to pay for...

:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

Is there a class I can take to learn how to leech off of the system?

My GF worked for a daycare center, and she'd always come home telling me all these stories about parents that are on "Title 20" (which means the government pays for their childcare) that would drive up in these fancy cars with cellphones etc etc. :| Dang leeches.

These people ruin it for the people out there that are really struggling to make it and really do just need a 'hand up' at some point.

That's why I really like the new welfare time limits they're putting in now in different states. If you're capable but simply unwilling, you should get zilch -- or maybe a swift kick in the butt.

Govt should just do away with welfares.... will force those lazy-bum to earn their living. Feel sorry for those that really needs it, but heck, nothing is free in this world. :disgust:

My guess either a loan from crappy loan-shark or from the "unlicensed" dealer group

I LIVE in the projects. If you dont think for a second that these 20 year olds on my block that drive new navigators and seville STS's didnt finance them by drugs, then you are pretty damm naieve. I suspect a good many were stolen as well, the police dont come around here much unless there is an actual shooting. (on my block last week. :))

My next door neighbor is reputedly a heroin dealer, tho I havnt asked him directly. dont think he would appreciate a whitie asking him that. Come to think 'bout it, im probably one of only 3 whities on the block. Feels weird to be the minority.

I've seen what you are talking about ulfwald....being behind a customer at the local grocery, then finish my shopping, go outside and see them packing their crap into a new lincoln with more bass than my home stereo with a 15" sub has. Of course, the gov't doesnt know they have the car, obviously.

Kroger is the biggest and oldest grocery store chain in the U.S., and - IMO - one of the best. Krogers is all throughout the Midwest and the South.

And I'm not just saying that because I used to work there ;)

Those government welfare checks to pregnant mothers are too generous. These women would come in and buy hundreds of pounds of meat every week. Perhaps the government would be better off giving these women a few seminars on healthy, frugal eating instead of giving them money?

I have nothing against people in the projects and such, but I kinda wonder too about the cars they drive - one near my house is a pimped out Civic SI (might be an EX though - haven't gotten close enough to tell) - complete with all the usual tricked out goodies.

I'm a checker at kroger right now. I have worked there for 7 years. I've worked in the booth, in videos and as a FE manager. I see that bullshyte happening every single day.

I like how most of these welfare cases buy only junk food. It also seems as though a requirement to receive welfare is to be a smoker. If they can afford their cigs, then they shouldn't get welfare.

The government (state or fed) needs to buckle down on this. It is sad that I bust my hump for a check while people are jobless pumping out babies just to get a check.

NOW, I do know people on welfare that do not abuse it. They really need the help and are trying to work and make a living. There are some good people in the welfare system.
