i hope you don't ever plan on taking any cargo anywhere. the miata has very little space. i barely got a full size tower case home. let me put it that way.

I am aware of the size constraints.

I like the NA Miata but I would prefer the power and some of the conveniences of the NC Miata. (or ND)

i was aware of them too. and then i owned one.

they are fantastic cars, but you don't think about all the things you can't do until you try and do them...and then go "wait, my car is a miata"

We have three impractical cars.. NB and NC Miata and a 228i. Atleast the BMW has a trunk with decent space and rear seats. :awe: Should note, when our lease is up we're going 4 doors. Removing the dog from the backseat is a pain.

There's another that's a 1997 and has like 50k miles (http://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/5181893562.html). I think it's also a M edition model? I considered checking it out but the guy is asking close to $5k, which is a bit much for me even though it seems to be only 50k miles. He also didn't list any interior photos which is annoying. I need to know what it looks like before I make the 2+ hour drive (each way) to it.

M edition means very little, and don't depend on the VIN to tell you that, VIN lists a lot as M editions that aren't.

Miata isn't much better.. We get 18-19ish MPG in our NC.

I can't decide, honestly. Pickup truck has the MOST utility and is something I REALLY want because it means I can finally move shit (and for a guy who seems to move a lot, it makes sense...). But, SF bay area is not exactly friendly to a long bed pickup truck...

Still want a Miata but I can't justify it because I need something that can move stuff.

I don't think you can realistically fit a large desk, computer chair, and a computer with two monitors in a typical car. SUV or a van, maybe.

Most cars are not rated to tow anything and don't have the setup for it. Especially anything that would be substantial such as a 750lb 8ft+ long trailer with stuff on it.

Since a $150 trailer hitch is an insurmountable obstacle for your thought process, clearly the only solution is to get one of these.

Renting a moving vehicle isn't that expensive, either move less or accept the reality of moving costs. Buying a gas guzzler as a daily driver because you think you're moving frequently is just stupid. No pickup truck would be suitable to move all of your possessions with ease unless you want to admit that you're basically homeless which in that case, you're better off with a van. Really, this is all just nonsense.

Buy a used RV if you are a true nomad.

But for SF's nasty parking, perhaps the minivan, full-size van. or SUV provides a better mix of what you need, including weather proofing when your stuff is on the road. You might fall in love with the minivan's sliding doors. They all can provide makeshift sleeping chambers too.

In addition, you might want consider vehicles with a truck or van front and atypical "rears". including box truck rears.
