I went from 235/55/17 Pirelli P Zero Nero (stock) to a Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tire. 285/40/18 in the rear and 255/45/18 in the front. Jesus Christ these things are fun. Taking hard fast corners and the tires don't even squeal....they just stick. Can't wait to take it to the road course race track in July.
 
You think the F1 tires perform better than the P Zeros? I have the P Zero 255/40ZR19 on my car and love them. Look great, are quiet and perform great. I'd be willing to try out some F1s though.

Edit: Ah, I see you have 285s on the rear. Kind of weird you have lower profile tires in the back though.

They aren't lower profile, 40/45 is a ratio of the total size. Both front and back should have a 4.5 inch sidewall.

The 50 indicates that this tire size's sidewall height (from rim to tread) is 50% of its section width. The measurement is the tire's section height, and also referred to as the tire's series, profile or aspect ratio. The higher the number, the taller the sidewall; the lower the number, the lower the sidewall. We know that this tire size's section width is 225mm and that its section height is 50% of 225mm. By converting the 225mm to inches (225 / 25.4 = 8.86") and multiplying it by 50% (.50) we confirm that this tire size results in a tire section height of 4.43". If this tire were a P225/70R16 size, our calculation would confirm that the size would result in a section height of 6.20", approximately a 1.8-inch taller sidewall.

The sidewall height and diameter are nearly identical. The profile number on the rears is smaller because of the increased width. The middle number for sidewall profile is a % of the width. That number goes down as width increases if you want the wheels/tires to look the same from the side with the same sidewall height and diameter.

standard on a c6 vette is 285's in the back 245's up front. although you can fit a 305 on the back with a stock rim, which i've done.
 
On my Sccoby I used to have P Zero Nero's, didn't like them, so swapped for Goodyear F1 GSD3's and they were so much better. F1's FTW!
 
Its such a difference going from my daily tire setup to my autox/HPDE setup, even though both are street tires. Pretty amazing how tires play such a role.

Daily is a Hankook V12 k110 evo
Autox/HPDE is Hankook RS-3

Should it concern me that you guys are driving fast enough to squeel tires on dry pavement? I take corners pretty damn fast in my little tiny car and the tires never squeal. I'm not sure if I should ask how fast you guys are driving around corners.
Wait yes I will. How fast are you guys driving around corners?
 
i put direzza star specs on a couple months ago and they are awesome as well. probably will only get a year out of them, maybe two

Most of us with such tires can squeal 'em in a straight line.

And you shouldn't be concerned. Maintain focus on not moving rocks with your Corolla.

I don't expect more than 25K KM's out of these tires, but I got them at such a steal I don't care. Maybe I will post some pics of the meat tonight. I know I was supposed to a few months back when I bought them.

Your tires aren't sticky enough to squeel and with your rocks in the trunk it's too heavy to go around a corner quickly

At the track my Miata probably does 0.9-1.0Gs laterally. The car in my avatar would do 1.4-1.6Gs laterally.

Buddy of mine gets 500-600 miles on his. All from auto-x :awe:
