A lot of pc2700 can overclock like mad you know. See if you can get your 512 stick to 210-220mhz with decent timings. If you can, than just buy another stick of 3200 for $60. I have an el-cheapo stick of 2700 Hynix that loves 215mhz with good timings. You can mix and match them speed wise.

dude...your ram sucks. 2700 (not even 3200...) and you only have 512. bf2 needs 1gb.
edit: bf2 needs AT LEAST 1gb.

You have no idea how much better the game was after going from 1 to 2GB.. people who know will say for sure.. I hope some BF2 players with 2GB chime in here, add some feedback.

I played with 1GB for a long time, (since the game was released in june) and I hated the crappy load times and lag at the beginning of maps for the first 15-20 seconds, the long times to exit the game as the hard drive thrashed while dropping back to desktop, but with 2GB, ALL of that is completely(!) gone. If you are an avid BF2 player, 2GB is almost necessary in my opinion.

Presuming you're being serious about asking if you need more RAM, then yes, you definitely need more RAM. I recommend a minimum of 1 GB, but preferably 2 GB with BF2.

i'd really rather recommend 2x1gb. in my experience 1 to 2 dimms is the *assured* amount for a64 plat with good timings. what I mean is some people get lucky and can run 4 dimms 2-2-2-5 no problem, but also there is also the chance you will get 3 dimms and not even hit 200mhz. of course, you can always try, usually 3 dimms will always work, its just that there is always some downward compromise in timings or speed when switching from the settings with 2 dimms to 3 dimms. recently that unfortunate compomise with multiple dimms has decreased for the better but still exists (and is still due somewhat to chance).
