Hello.

I built the following system using envisioncs.net's (Envision Computer Solutions) configurator. I plan
on purchasing the system from here too. Any comments or suggestions?

Case: Chenming MidTower Aluminum with Window and Antec 430w PS (Black)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (512k Cache, 800 MHz FSB)
MOBO: Abit IC7 with Audio/S.ATA/Firewire (800MHz FSB)
FAN: Cold Cathode 11in Light, Blue
RAM 1: Corsair 512 MB PC3200 DDR400, Value Select
RAM 2: Corsair 512 MB PC3200 DDR400, Value Select
HD: Western Digital 80 GB, Ultra 100, 7200 RPM, 8MB Cache
CDROM:LiteOn LTD163 IDE DVD, 16x48x
FLOPPY:Mitsumi 1.44 MB Floppy Drive
VIDEO: Asus v9520-Magic GeForce FX 5200 128 MB (W/TV-Out)
SOUND:SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (OEM)
NETWORK: PCI 10 / 100 Network Card (DLink DFE530TX+)
WARRANTY: Extended 3 Year Warranty

The total comes to $1216

I don't plan on getting a CDRW with this system as I already have a new one I can use.

looks good so far. Havent really heard of any problems with those motherboards. no, that 430w antec powersupply will be more then sufficient.

Your choice of componenets looks good...except for the video card. I have a FX 5200, and it is a dog. No faster than a GF4 MX 440. Spend a little extra moolah and get a Ti4400 or even an ATI Radeon 9700.

The reason for the video card is I am not a gamer, so I will not be using it except for
2d applications for the most part.

Personally I would head over to newegg and price that system out. I have never heard of the place you mentioned, but it can never hurt to shop around and you can never go wrong with newegg.

This month's (July) issue of Computer Power User ran a review of the major i875P mobos, that Abit IC7 came out on top.
I am planning on getting one myself this summer.
As for that P4, make sure it indeed is the Canterwood P4 2.8C.
If you wanted to save a few bucks, the P4 2.4C sells for only $179 and can be overclocked to 3.0 GHz.

As for the Corsair RAM, good choice. Make sure you are getting the XMS version and a matched pair at that.

BTW, pretty sure that mobo comes with onboard gigabit LAN, so you can nix the network card.

Yes, other than the vid card it looks to be a great gaming platform.

However, the RAM will be especially helpful in video/photo editiing.

I am curious as to why I should get the Corsair XMS ram? It's expensive.

I need a lot of ram because I do a lot of compiling and programming and have
many virtual desktops open at any time.

it's a great overclocker and does tight timings, for the ram, i would get some buffalo pc3200 instead
