Hi.

I plan on ordering this custom built system from Monarch Computer today, how does it look:

CASE: Thermaltake Xaser III V2000A Alum
POWERSUPPLY: Thermaltake W0011 Dual Fan 480watt
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
CPU: 2.8ghz 800mhz FSB P4 / Shin-Etsu G675 Thermal Grease
RAM: CORSAIR DDR 400 TwinX1024-3200C2
HARDDRIVE: Western Digital 120gig Special Edition 8MB buffer 7200rpm
VIDEOCARD: Gainward Geforce FX5600 128 ULTRA 760 XP

Also included is a 1.44 floppy, and a 52x24x48 + 16dvd Samsung cd drive.

No OS is coming installed, I plan on installing Gentoo Linux.

Asus and Corsair don't get along well. I would tell you to get another kind of ram, but since Corsair is the best there is, I'll tell you to get another kind of motherboard. Seriously. I had the P4C800 Deluxe. It was endless problems. Look at the Asus boards... tons of problems.

I could get PC3200 OCZ ram or PC3200 Samsung ram both are around the same
price but cheaper than Corsair.

Would this be fine?

Yeah, one of those would be better. I would still advise a different mobo if possible, although many people might speak out against me. Asus makes some good things, like their video cards and their AMD mobos... but the P4 series of mobos are just... terrible.

I am running a 512 MB stick of Corsair XMS 3200C2 on my P4P800 Deluxe. And I can tell you that I have not had one bit of trouble running it at 2-3-3-6 timings.
I would however recommend that you run XMS 3500C2 on this board if you are going to run it in dual-channel mode. The only reason I am running XMS 3200C2 is because I had it left over from my old system.
Hope this helps.

I don't really understand all the ram timings and such....
Why PC3500? I thought the board supported DDR 400 PC3200.

Would OCZ Premier Series PC3200 DDR be better memory to get?
It's $95 per 512meg stick at Monarch.

The description is:
"OCZ Premier Series PC3200 DDR memory is truly ahead of its time by using state of the art ULN technology to achieve speeds exceeding 400 MHz at 2-3-3-7 timings. Above and beyond PC2700, OCZ PC3200 Premier Series offers great performance at a price that will not leave your wallet empty."

Why not ASUS P4C800E Deluxe?it's supposed to support Prescott proccessor, in the future, you may upgrade your proccessor to prescott with out changing your maimboard.
