For post 1337, I wanted to post in ATDC Forums....

so here's my new shiny folding rigs that will be up and running NEXT YEAR! (I'm about 3300 miles away from home and not working so i'm trying to save on power bills)

Panbox-i7
-------------
Intel Core i7 920 (haven't even begun to overclock yet. Can't wait)
Asus P6T Deluxe
6GB Corsair DDR3-1333
GTX 260 Core 216
All watercooled

Panbox-OSX (a proven 6500ppd)
---------------
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 3.0GHz
Abit AW9D 975X
4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667
8800GTS G92
All Watercooled

Panbox
----------
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 3.0GHz
eVGA 680i-A1
4GB DDR2-800
9600GSO
Air cooled

Can anyone say, 20,000ppd? :D

See you guys next year!

It's a B3. Got it last year at a 4th of July sale (a year and a half ago) for $300 back when they were still $533. I can get it higher but the motherboards it has been on (the 680i and 975X) don't like quads very much. They liked my E6400 much better (@ 3.6GHz a lot).

The G0 will go into the aircooled system....

AND, I've hit a budget crisis again. This means the 9600GSO will have to be dropped.... :(

Ah fair enough, their still quick rigs anyway :).

Btw when I had my Q6600 in an MSI 650 mbrd it wouldn't go over 3GHz either :p.

All of those boxes will support two or even three GPUs...why only running one in each? If you wanna crank those ppd up buy some more 9600GSOs and set up multiGPU systems.

I have no money. :p It seems to be a common theme among people these days. I barely have enough to buy the new i7 computer and repair the other two. I can barely afford my power bill. My main rigs are watercooled so that would add cost. :p

Maybe next year. Oh, and that GTX 260 Core 216 may be replaced by a GTX 295 because it has not been purchased yet. :D

What's the odds I killed 4 sticks of RAM simultaneously? My 680i LIVES!

Excellent!!! The first 680i mobo I got had memory controller issues, and I had to return it. The next I received was fine. Probably nothing but a coincidence, but still.

Zero ,unless the mbrd burned out & took the RAM with it!:Q

I stuck in some new RAM and it works. 4GB of DDR2-800.

I have the worst luck with gskill (maybe just the 2.3-2.4 vdimm sticks) I am rmaing my 5th set of them. They work perfectly, then I have to shut down a folding rig for a re-config, and it won't even post back, after 10 minutes !!! No bios changes, just change a video card or PSU....It runs fine 24/7 for months, but when you have to shut down, it dies....

HOLY CRAP. I'm just going to say that my i7 and dual GTX 260 Core216SC 55nm's draw 640W @ full load. Uhhh... Can't afford that power bill. My combined power for crunches is now over 1kW. I can't afford 720kWhr's from just my PC's every month.....

Get used to it. A sub $300 power bill for me is rare. Adding 4 new boxes early next week including a rare but lovely 9800gtx2! I love those cards.

Keep folding,

Gravity

I will I could afford that. Right now, I'm on a very tight budget so I can't fold right now.

Actually overclocked so my power consumption is up to 710W for the i7, 370W for the Q6600 and I have yet to test the other Q6600 and E6400 rigs.

I like my Atom 330 dual-core w/ HT. Not folding, but it only draws 56W w/ 3 HDD's and dual optical drives and 3 fans on average during daily server loads.

You scare me. I currently have one C2D @ 3.2GHz, and an AMD64 3800+ (not overclocked) running SoB 24/7, and my power bill is around $60/mo. Planning on building two Q6600 quad-core overclocked monsters, as well as getting my F@H rig running 24/7.

I'm running out of room to put computers in my apt. :(

I figure my power bill will be $100+ once I put the quad-cores into operation. Summertime brings the AC into the picture, and last summer my power bill went from $60 to $120. So possibly $160 or $180 this summer? Ouch. I'm on a limited income right now, so every dollar spent, isn't there to buy computer parts with.

I went the other way, and bought all the parts and can't turn on the computers cuz I can't afford the power for them. Just for the computers, I would be paying around $140-150/month

Send me your parts and I'll put them into action for you.

It's costly to fold but worth it!

Gravity

btw, don't think that top folders have it easy. I spent 3 hours trying to get two 9800gx2's to work in concert without success! This morning I'm going to put it into a different box and see what happens. Not all parts play together well. Some parts don't play at all.

If it helps, my Q6600 @3.34 GHz (1.344v DC loaded), 4GB RAM @1046 2.2v, HD 4830 running F@H, Asus P5Q pro P45 mbrd, 1TB + 300GB HDDs & a TPII 430 PSU draws 280-285w from the mains (230v).

I think I'll just wait though. Thanks. :p
I like my new computers too much to part with them. The main ones are watercooled.
