WooHoo I finally was able to get a new machine!😀 Yes this is the new machine that I have been talking about since December last year🙁

Here are the details-----

Asus A7V333-R
XP2100
G-Force4 4400/128mb
2 X 40 gig 7200 drives running raid 0😀
256 of ddr333 🙁 should be 512 so I'll need to take it back on Monday.
16x DVD
32x12x40 burner

Next stop install Seti and see what she'll do!!!!

Right now the average is just under 3hr per unit😀

You are going to love that system. Capt'n Rick on TS has one just like it and is tearing things up. 😉 🙂

WTG Tarca! (Finally! 😉) Did you buy the parts locally? If so, from whom?

The installation of a GF4-4400 is an indication that you plan activities that will interfere with your SETI production. :Q It has been a long standing rule here on the TeAm that no gaming is allowed that will reduce WU output! Oh, well...you deserve some fun, so go for it!! I won't tell! 😀

DOH...

First WU was 3:40 but I left the screen saver on. I guess when your up till 2:00AM you can make a mistake🙂

JW - Ginstar, I know that I could find the parts cheaper online but I like the fact that if I have a problem I can take care of it in a day🙂 pssst this is my gaming rig and cruncher second....did I just say that?:Q

Boy that Thermaltake Volcano7 is one hell of a cooler:Q!

Well I still need to install some drivers and finish setting up this morning... and then load software🙂

Do you mean "one hell of a LOUD cooler?" 😀 I like Ginstar, they have pretty good prices. I've bought a ton of stuff from them over the years.

What the hell is going on here?! I spend 1 day away drinking and playing golf and this is what happens!? This is the last time I leave you unsupervised, Tom! 🙂

Nice rig, btw.

/me checks wallet to see if I can afford one............nope. 🙁

Yes it is! Since this is my first AMD proc and I no nothing about OCing what kind of temps are ok? right now the chip is 50c...

Congrats on your new rig!!!!

The temps on the cpu depends on the temp sensor if it is checking internal temp then that is pretty decent otherwise kind of high. My 1800 running as a 2000 is running at 46C on my soyo dragon plus.

Well I'm not sure about where that temp is coming from... I installed the ASUS prob V.2 program and I'm at 50c processor and 31c on the motherboard.😕

I had a 1 gig thunderbird that ran 59 deg. C. It ran fine for about a year. I sold it since I upgraded, the guy I sold it to said it ran fine.

50C isn't bad, i'm at 54C right now, and I was up to 57C earlier while running seti, when I closed out i dropped about 5C! :Q

mu OCrd 1700+ @ 1600MHz hits 39C runnin SETI 24/7. and only goes above 39C when im runnin prime or Sandra burn. teh lil delta on my SK-6 is one hell of a cooler. and yes its loud but not as loud as teh vantec tornaod that i have for an exaust fan

Congrats on the nice rig and your first AMD Tom 😀 😎 . I've been getting my parts at Ginstar forever too. I wouldn't worry about how hot your AMD chip gets. I ran AMD's and Intels at over 150 degrees F room (attic area). The CPU monitor on the ASUS probe program on the AMD chip at 1.4 Gig read 97C all summer, ran with no problems. Of course not recommended but just dispells the excess worrying about heat. The Industry is working hard at building a cottage Industry revolving around the heat of PC's beyond 2 GHZ.

PS - I shut off all the extra fans like case fans, HD fans etc, only leave normal CPU fans going not monsters like Volcano's etc. Infact only problem if everyone would recall I posted was a fancy Golden Orb type CPU fan that failed. The CPU was fine but the extra heat around the Motherboard Caps that sit right around the CPU got so hot that the caps leaked the electrolyte out of them causing Motherboard failure. This turned out to be common for this SOYO board as well even without having the excess heat problem. It's all in the design.

Hehhe Nice. I'm at a little over 4hours but I'm crunching 2 processes at a time and doing folding@home on the same machine 🙂

For stats check the SuperServer link in my sig 🙂

Does this mean Tarca Jr. gets your old machine so he can finally play all the games at the LAN parties??? 😉.
