the beeps happen during windows
and its two different sounding short beeps

server specs:
Asus A7M266-D
2- Athlon MP 2200+
1 gig of crucial ECC DDR2100 RAM
3- IBM 18gig SCSI HD in RAID 5
Adaptec SCSI RAID 2100S
Enermax 450W PS
Seagate Travan 40 tape backup
ATI 7500 vid card
using 2 nics
Belkin 1000 UPS
running Windows 2000 Advanced server

what do you guys think it could be??

please help
thanks!!

Looking at the manual, page 39 mentions some possibilities (overheat?) and page 81 mentions that Asus Probe will beep the system speaker if it detects problems. Could also be your UPS, perhaps, or even the tape drive?

Are you positive that the heatsinks are both on in the correct direction? The top/front CPU's heatsink should be oriented with its stepped end towards the DIMM slots (the stepped end coincides with the end of the heatsink clip that has the screwdriver fitting). The lower/rear CPU's heatsink should have its stepped end/screwdriver fitting facing the rear of the case. If either one has been running with the heatsink reversed, I would throw that CPU away if this is a mission-critical system (just my 2c worth).

If you did install Asus Probe, see if it's indicating any alerts, too.

I agree with throwing the CPU away if the heatsink was on wrong. I however do not see how the Althon core would not be smoking without the heatsink. Well I guess it could just be slightly of oh well, you need to get in there and check.
