My new RX480 - idle temp seemingly high.

Is it normal for an RX480 to idle at 49'-50' ?

I bought an Asus "Dual Fan" 4GB card, and, using HWMonitor (seems to match WattMan), it idles at ~ 49-50'.
The fan speed is usually at 0rpm.

When gaming, it gets up to ~ 69', and the fan ramps up to a maximum of 2338 rpm.
(Side note: The fan noise is the least enjoyable aspect of the card - my case is a decent sized Fractal Design that has good air flow. )

Does the idle temp seem reasonable ? I presume it's "high" because the card is trying to keep the fan off ?

Your idle seems reasonable for a card with the zero RPM fan feature. Also, 69C isn't really that warm and you could probably change the fan curve to lower the fan speed to let the card get up to a temp that you're comfortable with.

49-50 degree idle temps is a very, very small price to pay for the fans not running at idle. I wouldn't worry unless they were 70+ degrees.
