This is my new project K1500, 5.7, 4x4, ac etc..... the body is straight and the interior is very clean and as soon as I got it home I took the top off.

The truck looks mint for it's age. When you say "project" what do you plan to do to it, especially with gas prices the way they are.

As for your comment about Civics and the Prius ... I agree. I'm tired of hearing people get excited about dropping WAYYYY too much money on one of the ugliest cars on the road (the Prius).

I plan on making it reliable enough to be an everyday driver(even though it won't be), even though I drove it home 200 mi the day I bought it and it did fine. Right now it looks like it needs a master cylinder, front brakes, it has a coolant leak by the water inlet and the tires are @ 50% or less, perhaps a nicer stereo and reupholster the bench seat.

Last week I replaced the plugs, cap & rotor, fuel filter & pcv valve. It's nice to have it drivable yet still needing a few things to be fixed up but it's nice to see how cheap parts are for these trucks.

I agree completely about the not so economical prius.

I would put the biggest tires that can fit 😛
Or even cut out those fenders and go to the biggest size the drivetrain can handle.

Looks good! I don't think gas prices would be too much of a concern for a secondary vehicle though. The daily driver should be fuel efficient, but if you do something that requires a truck like that, you don't really have any choice on how much you spend on gas.

Do you have any pics of the interior? What shape is it in?

Say what you want about the Prius. I'd put my money on the Prius being quicker in a drag race. 😉

210 HP from 5.7L? Thank goodness they don't make them like they used to. But it will be a good weekend hauler or fishing vehicle. Not much to break once you get it all fixed up.

I have a feeling that that race won't be aired on Pinks.

Mods..mods.... I'm thinking of a nice cd player with an Ipod interface 😉

You're on the wrong side of the earth, and one day you're going to fall off.

Here is a bit of an update:

I just had the brakes, rotors & master cylinder replaced and waiting on an ABS modulator.

I just ordered this stereo.

I had part of the exhaust replaced and some cooling upgrades and replaced a couple of seals around the windows.

I still need to lift the back end a tad, do an alignment and add an alarm.

Wow. We should all buy our used cars from Arizona/New Mexico. That truck wouldn't like like that after one Michigan winter passed new.

Trucks don't need horsepower as much as they need torque.

True. My Dakota has *just* 225 horsepower but 300 lb-ft of torque out of a 5.2 liter V8.
