Soon to be Rig (hopefully)

Asus A8n-SLI
AMD 64 3500+ 90nm
ASUS 6600GT 1x (2x later on down the road)

I currently have

MSI K8N Neo
AMD 64 3400+ 1MB L2 Cache (S754)
ATI 9800 Pro 256MB

I am getting 350-400 dollars for my old equipment so i gettin some of the money back.

Do you guys think this is a wise desision or do you have other suggestions on a killer machine.

Mabey drop processor a bit and goto 6800GT???

Or perhaps a better 6600GT.

Well i am on a kinda tight budget. I was thinking a 6600GT unless you have a money saving idea. I want SLI. With SLI video card. Should a wait a little longer for more SLI options? I dont really see any coming out for a while besides MSI.

You know a good 6600GT?

I also suggest a single 6800GT. If SLI is not super-important to you (IMO, the only worthwhile combos are too costly and impractical to give you any benefit unless running a 1900x???? display), get the Chaintech VNF4/Ultra, which has one PCIe x16 slot and retails for $120 at Newegg. With the prices on Winchester 3500s all screwy right now, I suggest buying a 3200 and overclocking it (all the Winnies get 2.6 on air easily, and for 3500+ performance you only raise the HTT 20MHz).

6600GT is about 200 bucks, I figure if i have one 6600GT and wait a while. I got a gig of memory. I want to get 2 gig. Then i want another hard drive for a bigger raid array i have now. I think i go with what i got there. There are other upgrades i want to do besides video. The video wouldent be upgraded for a while so i think this is a good decision for me

Okay guys i am going to go out for a while but i be back later. Thanks a lot for the input. I think i gonna get 3200 and take extra money and get 2 6600GT's since 2 6600GT are better then 6800GT. Then i gonna improve my system memory and RAID array for future upgrades. Thanks a lot guys, peace.

Save your money. You have a nice system now.
Your current system is good for at least 2-3 years. (With an upgrade in graphics card.)

Just buy yourself a 6800 GT for now... You won't regret it.

(I would kill to have your system right now... sigh*)

Why do you even need to upgrade man? Your system is fine as it is! Just use that $400 to get a real nice 6800 Ultra AGP. Be happy, you already have a nice system.

Not really. A single 6800GT is uaually faster than 2 6600GT's in SLI.

If you are going to get two 6600GT's right away just go with a 6800 then you can add another in the future
