What do you guys think about my new PC and what PC stuff did you get for Christmas? (I have all the parts... i still have to build it!):

UV sensitive acrylic case w/ 4 80mm fans

i would have gotten an athlon 3000 instead.

with the cash saved i would have gotten 2 6800GT PCI-E and ran them in SLI. for the same amount of cash, you could have had a rig that will destroy the one you ordered for gaming.

but thats just me.

however, i would like to point out that you should have gotten 90nm 3500+ or 3200+ instead of 4000+ and saved that money up for dual 6800 GT's...

ALSO if your computer's that nice, you should have gotten 74 gig raptors in raid 0...

just my 2 cents..

anyways just ignore me... it's very very nice setup congratulations

Damnit... I was debating weather or not to go SLI but it just didnt give enough boost in benchmarks for the money... I thought the money was better to go to the 4000+.... Damn now you guys think it would of been better to go sli... does anyone know if Zip Zoom Fly would refund an x800xt, and an amd a64 4000+?? HAHA... didnt go newegg cause their is a tax here in TN...

i got miainly cosmetics and cooling for xmas, suppose ill be putting my guts of my pc into the new lian li v-1000-W and powering it with the uv blue ultra x-connect psu i got (which im not sure about its performace, maximum pc said its total crap, but everywhere else says its decent, im not sure what to do. Other than that lots of fan controlling bay devices, heatsinks and stuff, i spose it will look fairly nice.

on second thought, i dont think your mobo is SLI compatible.

no it isnt..... I need an SLI one.... but see i had to order ithe Nforce4 off of Ebay cause their all sold out of Newegg! already... after like 3 days... can you return Ebay items? well it depends on the seller but hope hes generous...

guys ignore me... i dont know much about computers as u guys do.. just heard that 2 raptors in raid 0 kick some butt and it's nicer than 80 gig 7200 rpm drive...

it's still a very nice rig... but if i was gonna pay that much for a computer, i would have bought at least a raptor (without raid 0)

oh well it doesnt matter... now of days the frame rates are fine and if i am getting 80 fps or more in half life 2 with 4xAA and 8xAF, highest settings, and 1280x124 (my LCD max) i am not going to cry saying "NNNNOOOOO i want 100 fps with SLI!!!!". I mean once you hit 80 fps you wont see much of a performance difference... people dont realize that the AVERAGE to run pretty smoothly is 30 fps and very good is 60... If i recall correctly Xbox games arent even designed to run at 60 fps... I know ill get like 40 in doom 3 but i will not only play doom 3 and 40 is actually not terrible...

The 4000+ is absolutely not necessary. If you can, send it back and get a 3200+ instead, or even a 3500+ if you like. The graphics card will be the bottleneck at 1600x1200 with AA/AF.

Jumping on SLI right now is not a good idea. First off, you'll have to come up with 2 x 6800GT PCI-e, and availability and pricing are poor at the moment. You'll also need a better PSU.

The X800XT is a great card, and in most benchmarks leaves tire tracks over the 6800U. If I could've found one in stock for a decent price, I would've taken it over the 6800GT.

santa left me a check for $1200. This is what i'm planning on getting. the $1200 is goin towards the case, CPU, mobo, RAM, graphics card, hard drive and optical drives. the rest is my own money that i was savin up.
