I like my new HP 960cse DeskJet Printer (Which I got for $259 Canadian after discount
), but am frusturated. It reports that it will give me 15ppm on draft type in B/W so when I print it out, it shows a blue light inside the translucent case and then it starts printer after about 10 seconds. Which it prints extremely quick. I'm thinking this is because it scans the type of paper I use, as a feature on the printer, and when I turn the printer off after I use it, it will have to re-scan the paper type which might be why it's scanning everytime I try to print (Since I turn the printer on and then off everytime I print and finish printing). I also have it on a paralel cable since I'm using an old computer, the Paralel cable is gold plated on the tips, if it matters.
Should I just keep the printer on all the time, since it is certified by Energy Star but this is preatty much the first printer I've ever had
( I use to use the school printer but I decided I needed one at home.) so I'm not sure if it's normal to keep the printer on. I also have an option to take away scanning with a preset type of paper in the printer options. But I'm not sure which type of paper I should default it as (They have plain paper, Bright White paper, Printer exclusive paper etc. Btw the paper I bought is Britex Premier MultiUsage Paper, the sales guy didn't specify type.) Right now I have it on plain paper, haven't tried printer anything yet with the new default setting though since I don't want to waste ink. Should I print a test page anyways?
Thanks for anyone who can help me, and BTW other then this tiny fact, the printer runs superb!
